Are some normally intelligent people such as Scott Adams and Patrick Aspie When It Comes To Thinking Trump Is Anything Other Than Horrid??

My guess is that it's a reaction to wanting the establishment in both parties taken down even if it means a lot of damage in the short and medium term.

I'm still glad Hillary didn't win, because then we'd be facing Trump/Cruise (R) versus Cheney/Romney (D) every single election for the next forty years. Who is president for four years, as important as that is, does not matter nearly as much as the political system behind the president and the parties. We're going to take a lot of damage over the next four years, but at least it's four years instead of forty.

Right now is the moment of greatest opportunity. Let's not waste it. Right now we can demand reform of the DNC, adoption of the Green Party platform as the Democratic platform, and replacing of the Baby Boomers, with few exceptions like Warren and Sanders, with young blood. If a lot of 30-49 year-olds Democrats ran against ancient Republicans, both Gen X and the Millennials would start voting almost exclusively for Democrats, and this would continue for the next 40 years. But that seed needs to be planted right now.

We need to purge the Democratic Party of Wasserman Schultz, Nancy Pelosi, and the Clintons. No more chronism. No more dynasties. The Democratic Party needs to distinguish itself from the Republican Party, and it needs to support the entire middle class. All leftist media needs to start acting liberal instead of leftist. They need to stop all identity politics, simply fight for equality under the law (marriage equality was the last real battle), put an end to the outlandish CEO compensation at the expense of employees, stop all H1B visas and outsourcing, support all tech industries from software to clean energy to medical research, and rebuild and modernize infrastructure. If the Democratic Party simply adopted three core platform issues, it would win most elections.

Core Principles
1. Peace unless there is a direct threat to the U.S., not to corporate profits.
2. Ending pollution.
3. Rebuilding the middle class.

The one good thing about a Trump administration is that it will be an utter failure leaving the disenfranchised open for grabs. The Democratic Party needs to get its shit together in a little more than a year, because in less than two years there are midterm elections, and limiting the damage Trump does requires taking back both houses in those elections.

If the Democratic Party reforms as I've stated above, then there is no reason it cannot have control of both chambers of Congress and the White House in 2020. And it should be able to keep both branches for 16 years, which is more than enough time to undo most, if not all, of the damage Trump does even without the Supreme Court. With the legislative and executive branch, the Democrats could render all conservative rulings mute with new laws. They could pass a Constitutional Amendment stating that corporations are not persons and have no free speech right or the right to influence elections. If the Democrats were smart, they would take every conservative ruling as a blueprint of what to legislate in response.

The Trump administration could be the critical turning point for establishing a seventh party system dominated by liberal, middle class policies with long-term management of the environment, infrastructure, and the economy. It could also be the tipping point for ending the horrible Baby Boomer domination of our nation. If those two things happen, I guarantee you the 21st century will make the 20th look like a hellhole.

Democrats have earned Trump presidency, they pushed their leftist agenda too far. They started restricting free speech, any speech that was in disagreement instantly labeled you a racist/antiwoman/homophobe/whatever with entire media bashing you. And if you couldn't afford to fight back against trillion dollar media industry, you were fucked.

I'm glad Trump won and is giving it right back to the left. Left needs to learn the lesson in behavior the hard way.

Here is what the corporate democrats who are 'centrists' support plus McCain/Romney/Bush:

1. Making whites a permanent minority ASAP in all white countries via forced (and unwanted) mass immigration of non whites (almost no whites allowed to immigrate).
2. Open borders and don't enforce laws/no deportations ever.
3. Large corporations do whatever, as long as they pay you off. (amazon should charge sales tax, but they dont. GOOG should be broken up its a monopoly but they arent)
4. Foreign governments actual can 'purchase' a war. Hillary overthrew Quadaffi/attempted to overthrow Syria in exchange for BRIBES (this is documented in wikilieaks).
5. Left wants to end 1st and 2nd ammendment. Effectively they ended the 1st with 'shaming' and 'firing'. Non whites can say/do whatever, even murder/crime and its Ok. A white kid in college cannot wear a fucking sombrero.
6. Black Live Matter is a sham. They want to defund police and take that money for blacks. Is that reasonable to you?

I will never vote democrat again. They only want to destroy and get free shit. They are the party of criminals and beggars and illegals and thier corporate overlords.

Since other that 6 and the second amendment you just recited the republican platform I'm not sure who you are going to vote for.

The open borders thing in particular is a disaster and Trump has succeeded on that front.

I can't imagine why anyone's in favor of a immigration policy that allows illegal entry. I can only imagine they don't live in a big city, or live in the elite protected areas of the big city.

It sets precedent for disregarding any other law they don't want to enforce.
It's their foot in the door to open lawlessness.
While it has not been proven that illegals vote in any kind of significant quantities to affect elections, it decidely brings in the votes of the legal immigrants who have illegal relatives in the country, of which there are many.

The best thing about Trump winning the last election:
We didn't end up with another Bush/Clinton in the white house. With the exception of Obama, a Bush or Clinton has been president or vice president for 36 years. Even with Obama, a Clinton was SOS (3rd highest position) for half of the time. That is just ridiculous and is proof (if anybody needed it) that this is not a meritocracy.

The worst things about Trump winning: He's incompetent and probably corrupt as hell. He is also the embodiment of everything the far left rails against. So, yeah, the far right got to stick it's finger in the far left's eye, but they also provided fuel for the far left industry. Trump will keep the far left alive in the same way that the half black guy kept the far right alive. Hopefully, that won't ruin whatever is left of the Democratic party the way that anti-Obama bullshit destroyed the remnants of the Republican party. I say remnants, because Bush 43 was an incompetent boob who did major damage. The far right sees this as a victory as they troll the far left and make them look bad. The moderates are stuck in the middle watching this shit show in horror.

Dan, I admire your optimism r/w/t the Democratic party. Even if you are right, and this gives the Dems the kick in the pants that they need to move away from the center right, I doubt very much that they will move in the direction that you want. Frankly, I think that the best way forward would be for the Dems to stress the common economic needs of both Trump's white voters and black voters. There might be some social overlap at the moment, too, due to the social problems that poor whites face. But I believe that the election of Trump has galvanized the feelings of persecution among minorities and made that much harder going forward. I also think that the pent up racist feelings on the white side makes this coalition very challenging. Bernie actually made a lot of progress during the primary. If he had started a year earlier and had some more support, he might have succeeded.
