* No evidence of collusion with Russia will ever be produced, because there isn't any.
* Comey's own sworn testimony that he was never pressured will be used against him and the whole Comey thing will be dropped.
* The media will continue fabricating a new anti-Trump story every couple of days for the rest of Trump's presidency.
* More and more of the public will come to the realization that the press really is on a witch hunt, motivated by intergalactic levels of coastal elite butt-hurt.
* Trump will turn out to be nearly as bad as Obama in serving the plutocracy.
* And yet Trump will in fact accomplish some of the things he promised, such as actual enforcement of immigration law and replacement of Obamacare.

Of course I could be wrong, but those are my expectations at the moment.

Ah, I see what you did there. Your selective screen grab omitted most of what he said in the interview that you linked:

Not really. I cut the first question which was what the NYT article was referencing. curious2 says

Open market operations happen all the time, including via the Federal Reserve. That's been going on for more than a century, buying and selling Treasury bonds via open market operations. The Fed has a whole committee expressly for this purpose, the "open market committee." Printing money to buy bonds is called monetizing, and buying some bonds while selling others is a long established tool to manage the yield curve.

Of course. Nobody would have written anything if Trump had stated that he'd like to increase the percentage of US debt in longer maturity bonds. But that's not what he said.

Yes, joeyjojojunior simply discounted the three links I presented, apparently without even reading them.

They are all very clear examples of how the press continually lies through omission and distortion.

Patrick--you've got to be kidding me!! What the fuck. Did you read them?? I read them and explained why they are not relevant.

How are any of them showing how MSM mischaracterizes what Trump says??? One was about Rosie ODonnell being punked by a fake video. One was about twitter users responses to a fake story. One was a news story that confirmed everything the MSM said, but opined that it wasn't a big deal because the President has the power to declassify information.

None had anything about MSM mischaracterizing Trump.

43   Patrick   2017 May 18, 6:16pm

These are three examples of the press deliberately distorting the facts because it helps their witch hunt.

44   Patrick   2017 May 18, 6:53pm

Trump was not my choice.

But I'm sure glad that we did not get Hillary.

45   HEY YOU   2017 May 18, 6:58pm

Smoke & mirrors, misdirection, red herrings, anything to distract while the D & R 1% laugh at the simpleton voters.
Trump's playing the part they all agreed on.
George Carlin:
"The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions."
"They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls."
Squeeze 'em harder!
Enjoying your life of denial?

Again, from your link, already copied and pasted above onto the screen in front of you:

curious2 says

Trump: "I think there are times for us to refinance. We refinance debt with longer term… I could see long-term renegotiations, where we borrow long-term at very low rates. I would refinance debt. I think we should refinance longer-term debt."

I saw what he said, on video, at the time. The reason you don't believe he said what he said is because you've been hypnotized by partisan headlines, which you repeat. By denying the obvious, and inventing or distorting allegations unsupported by facts, you alienate people and put reasonable observers in the position of defending Donald Trump. It's very odd. I saw interviews during the campaign: voters said they had seen scary MSM stories about him and had then seen with their own eyes that those stories were false. Many of them stopped believing the MSM, and decided to vote for him.

47   LarryPatrickMaloney   2017 May 18, 10:37pm

Not bad Patrick, I'm impressed with you!

48   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2017 May 19, 2:34am

Curious2, my interpretation of that is that he would use the threat of not paying back in full to renegotiate. The goal of the renegotiation would be to force the other party to offer us a good deal on (below market) on long term rates. Otherwise, no need to negotiate. Trump is expert on getting paid without getting paid.

Anyway, after reviewing this, I can see your point about the media exaggerating. That explains why it never became a bigger story.

49   marcus   2017 May 19, 3:27am

We're being trained.

No matter what Trump does, however bad, one third of the country (including Patrick) and the right wing media will always label it liberal hysteria.

If he steps out on fifth avenue and shoots someone, it will be, "oh there the liberals go again with their hysteria"

This is guaranteed. IF he accidentally starts world war 3, it will be, "oh there the liberals go again with their hysteria"

I guess this was predictable back in 2016. I don't believe it will ever be a majority view though. Thankfully Brietbart and Fox don't have that much power.

Bzzzzz! Wrong!

It's labeled hysteria because all caps cries for impeachment when no defined crime has taken place are the very definition of hysteria.

Which is why I keep linking the wiki entry:

Curious2, my interpretation of that is that he would...

Thanks for your comment, but I didn't interpret his remarks that way, especially since he didn't use any such words. He did say "discount," which I interpreted to mean the usual tools of monetizing and open market operations. He also talked about trade and defense, so I interpreted that to mean he'd use trade and defense treaties to try to get more $$$ for America, which might include debt forgiveness. All of that would be legal, and consistent with what he and others have advocated for a long time.

Some OTHER Republicans, including in Congress, tried to threaten default by not increasing the debt ceiling. I've never seen President Trump advocate anything like that.

Respectfully, I think the exaggerated headlines were intended to skew your interpretation of what Donald Trump actually said. I've been reading Scott Adams' blog; he is a cartoonist but also has a degree in economics and trained as a hypnotist, and he says intelligence and education are no defense against the hypnosis and persuasion the MSM have been using. After seeing too many exaggerated headlines, I learned to ignore them; if I want to know what the President said, I look it up on YouTube or Twitter.

The thing I find shocking is that so many Democrats welcome the prospect of President Pence. That makes no sense at all. There is no way to argue that would be an improvement for anyone other than the MSM who have sacrificed their credibility. They want to think of themselves as the smart and well informed and credible people in the room, and every day the President proves he isn't Hitler, it drives them ever more crazy.

Those people are either blinded by their hatred or scared over what kind of damage Trump could do. I'd take the freak show we are watching over Pence any day, and I never figured that Trump would do any permanent damage. I am surprised by Trump's incompetence lately, though. He should lawyer up and stop saying stupid shit. IMO, he's showing the same type of arrogance and ignorance that made Hillary so careless with email. He has all the resources in the world to get help. He should use them.

I know. I've seen plenty of references to it around here. Hypnosis is fascinating. Have you seen the hypnosis comedy shows in person? It's ridiculous what they get people to do. It seems that the brain is easy to trick in a lot of ways.

55   curious2   2017 May 19, 2:58pm

YesYNot says

Have you seen the hypnosis comedy shows in person?

Not yet, but I'm experiencing some of it in real life: friends with postgraduate education insisting adamantly on demonstrably false statements.

One friend with an M.S. in engineering insisted that Hillary had won a majority in 2016. I said she hadn't. He insisted pedantically that "mathematically" she had. In reality, she got 48% of the 55% who voted. When I pointed out those facts and that 70% of the citizens eligible to vote for her had chosen not to, he conceded grudgingly but insisted the 70% of his fellow adult citizens could not possibly have had any rational reason for not voting HIllary.

Another with a JD and LLM had literally forgotten the difference between a majority and a plurality. He asked me, "What's the difference?"

Both went on and on about nuclear war. It was a rerun of LBJ's "Daisy ad" against Barry Goldwater. Hillary was a "Goldwater Girl" back then, and her team appear to have remembered the lesson: terrify people with the image of nuclear war, attach that somehow emotionally (but not rationally) to your opponent, and count on panic to preclude reason. LBJ beat Goldwater, and the world's largest nuclear power escalated an illegal war in southeast Asia against a proxy of the world's second largest nuclear power. The 2016 campaign seemed like a rerun, with the Democrats promising more ground troops and illegally shooting down Russian planes in Syria. I can't imagine a worse idea than paying for hijrah while also deliberately trying to spark a lethal war between the two most formidable western powers, but somehow many Americans are hypnotized to do Nazis' Muslims' bidding, as per The Sum of All Fears (where the villains were actual Nazis, rather than their doctrinal close cousins, Muslims).

What Trump said...Here's the bottom line, we've got to keep our country safe. You look at what's happening. We've got to keep our country safe. You look at what's happening in Germany. Media Lie About Trump's Dad Producing Racist Political Ads
More media lies exposed by the Washington Examiner:

The claim took off in press circles on Feb. 9. The Facts: The ads mentioned in Blumenthal's essay for the London Review of Books are fakes. Fred Trump never ran for NYC mayor, he never had commercials made up for him and the videos mentioned by Blumenthal were created and posted online last year by an art project group called the "Historical Paroxysm." The group specializes in producing "found footage from alternate realities."

Journalists Botch Yet-Another Anti-Trump Fact Check
Washington Examiner:

Trump tweeted at 8:35 am on Feb. 10, "The failing @nytimes does major FAKE NEWS China story saying 'Mr.Xi has not spoken to Mr. Trump since Nov.14.' We spoke at length yesterday!"

Members of the press pounced, and many tried to fact-check Trump's tweet with screen grabs from the updated online version of the Times' story.

But the facts here lean more in Trump's favor.

The Friday print edition claimed incorrectly that the president hadn't spoken with Xi. The president responded Friday morning to the story. Journalists then tried to "gotcha" Trump with the online edition of the report, but fact-checking him with the retroactively updated online version of a story that appeared differently in print doesn't seem the way to go.

The online edition of the Times' story carries no editor's note or clarification noting that it has undergone significant changes.

Media Lies About Trump's Refugee Pause Ensnaring American-born Olympian

NBC News Lies About Trump Easing Russian Sanctions
NBC reported Thursday that the Trump administration was easing sanctions on the FSB, one of Russia’s primary intelligence agencies. Peter Alexander, NBC’s national correspondent, tweeted, “US Treasury Dept easing Obama admin sanctions to allow companies to do transactions with Russia’s FSB, successor org to KGB.”

Less than an hour later, he wrote, “Source familiar w sanctions says it’s a technical fix, planned under Obama, to avoid unintended consequences of cybersanctions.” His initial and incorrect tweet received nearly seven thousand retweets and the correction has less than 300 retweets. Nevermind!

New York Times Lies About Homeland Security Being Blindsided By Trump's Refugee Pause
Daily Caller:
It stated: “Gen. John F. Kelly, the secretary of homeland security, had dialed in from a Coast Guard plane as he headed back to Washington from Miami. Along with other top officials, he needed guidance from the White House, which had not asked his department for a legal review of the order. Halfway into the briefing, someone on the call looked up at a television in his office. ‘The president is signing the executive order that we’re discussing,’ the official said, stunned.” Secretary Kelly, however, later strongly denied this report during a press conference Tuesday. “We knew it was coming. More Fallout From BuzzFeed Publishing What It Knew Was a False Dossier On Trump
A lawsuit has been filed against the left-wing BuzzFeed by a tech company that was smeared in the phony anti-Trump dossier the left-wing outlet published last month.

BuzzFeed seems fully aware the information was false. After the suit was filed, BuzzFeed publicly apologized to the company and redacted the company's name from the phony dossier … which has now been read by millions.

P.S. BuzzFeed's decision to publish what it knew was Fake News, a ridiculous claim that Trump is now a Manchurian Candidate being blackmailed by the Russians, is part of the MSM's ongoing "assassination dogwhistle" campaign.

64   HEY YOU   2017 May 22, 7:50pm

Patrick,
Almost deleted your email.

Before one can start with a solution we need to realize the problem.

https://theoldspeakjournal.wordpress.com/2017/05/19/the-absurd-economics-of-7-5-billion-people-on-one-planet/

Maybe a couple of solutions.
STOP! Doing the same thing over & over.
Stop all the fucking & thinking that this planet has infinite resources, creating offspring that pump more heat into the environment, produce more trash & pollution that contaminates the planet's water, air & soil.
Stop creating $10,000 out of a $1,000 deposit.
Stop living an economic delusional theology that is based on fiat currency, the shit's not real.
Stop thinking that the status quo will continue forever.

It would be nice to have a list of ten direct things we could do to fix the any of our problems in a few days or weeks.
MAGA is probably not one of the ten.

Maybe we could just STOP!

65   HEY YOU   2017 May 22, 7:56pm

MSM hysteria

True though the MSM aren't really liberal: they're pushing Saudi wars and hijrah all the time. Some among their audience might like to call themselves liberal, just like President Obama said bombing Libya wasn't "hostilities." It's Orwellian. We can't honestly claim that bombing people does not constitute hostilities, and the 90% of the "liberal" media can't honestly call themselves liberal.
