Woohoo! There is a small break in the dam holding back scientific truth about gender.

A software engineer’s 10-page screed (sic) against Google’s diversity initiatives is going viral inside the company, being shared on an internal meme network and Google+. The document’s existence was first reported by Motherboard, and Gizmodo has obtained it in full.

In the memo, which is the personal opinion of a male Google employee and is titled “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” the author argues that women are underrepresented in tech not because they face bias and discrimination in the workplace, but because of inherent psychological differences between men and women. “We need to stop assuming that gender gaps imply sexism,” he writes, going on to argue that Google’s educational programs for young women may be misguided.

And some delightful nuggets of truth which have so far been repressed by shaming, straw-man exaggerations, and even firing of anyone with the balls to speak:

TL:DR

Google’s political bias has equated the freedom from offense with psychological safety, but shaming into silence is the antithesis of psychological safety.
This silencing has created an ideological echo chamber where some ideas are too sacred to be honestly discussed.
The lack of discussion fosters the most extreme and authoritarian elements of this ideology.
Extreme: all disparities in representation are due to oppression
Authoritarian: we should discriminate to correct for this oppression
Differences in distributions of traits between men and women may in part explain why we don’t have 50% representation of women in tech and leadership. Discrimination to reach equal representation is unfair, divisive, and bad for business.

Line four is justified because of lines 1 and 2. It's a valid generalization. If it weren't, the people hiring women just for the sake of hiring women would not have to compromise and and hire low talent.

It's like saying, we tried to find a lead-based face paint that wasn't toxic, but we couldn't, so we compromised and put leaded paint on our faces and got lead poisoning. Now people generalize that lead is not a good component for face paint.

Not all generalization is wrong. If it were, then no group could be formed. You couldn't say "Nazis are bad" or "pedophiles don't make good baby sitters" because that's a generalization.

Decent article by a woman in tech makes some good points:

After diversity attempts at large companies and my own startup and the attempts to start tech early with my own children, I can tell you that our obsession with diversity and attempts to solve it are only fucking it up for the actual women in tech out there!

What do I mean by this?

We get upset about the state of gender diversity in tech

We make a pact to hire more women

The pool has (a lot) more men than women

This is the same kind of negative feedback loop that happens with each dysfunctional idea. For example, someone gets the bright idea that you can reduce crime by making drugs illegal and cracking down on small time drug dealers. So drug use is criminalized and the police force is expanded (along with prisons) as a result crime actually goes up because not only are all the drug users criminals, but the people looking to make a quick buck by selling it are criminals. Gangs and Cartels are the only groups willing and equipped to supply the drugs so they are actually empowered and enriched by the prohibition. The Gangs and Cartels start warring with one another for a bigger piece of the lucrative drug trade pie. As the crime goes up someone gets the bright idea we need more law enforcement and a bigger prison. And the cycle repeats.

Affirmative action and prohibition. These are flawed policies because they seek to take away free will from people. God created us all and gave us free will to choose. He does not force anyone to worship Him or choose Heaven. He does not force anyone to reject Him or go to Hell. He gives everyone a choice. We should follow that same pattern with our laws. (I am not saying we need to allow murder, theft, rape or anything like that, but we need to allow people to make their own choices, even if they are self destructive).
