Ok. Percentage of net worth in crypto based on portfolio value today is 5%.

5% of what? $3k?
164   PaisleyPattern   2019 Jul 2, 10:50am

If I was as certain as you are that bitcoin is going to appreciate so dramatically, I would have a much much larger percentage of my assets invested in it.

The difference on 5% or 50% of $3k isn't gonna make that much of a difference. It can go to Uranus and he'll still be broke. It's why we haven't seen a screen shot. He's also trying to move over to the other thread now where he's gotten less pushback.

Here one more.
How much did it cost to invent bitcoin?

Anyone want to take a guess?

Who cares? It makes no difference at the end of the day except for the few people holding most of the coins. The guys pulling the puppet strings on the common losers that think bitcoin is something of value.
167   WookieMan   2019 Jul 13, 9:46am

Crap. More crap.

More and more companies want to be part of cryptocurrency future.

Why?

Bitcoin prices might be sluggish

How much did you lose?

I am a long term BTC holder. I have no interest in selling anytime soon.

HODLer?
171   Onvacation   2019 Jul 14, 1:47pm

Newbie123 says
. I can see the price to be at like 50-100k in the next couple of years.

Why?

Bitcoin has no intrinsic value.
172   Onvacation   2019 Jul 14, 1:48pm

Newbie123 says

Major tech companies like Facebook are entering the space.

Just because you create some shopping tokens (libra) doesn't make it blockchain.
173   WookieMan   2019 Jul 14, 8:51pm

No CEO? No address? Wtf does that matter? The US gov could spend a couple billion on mining and destroy bitcoin in 30 days. You understand that, right? They can make it illegal to have it. (I know, I know, don’t use exchanges even though you do) Our government has made plants illegal. They can call your numbers illegal tomorrow and the fiat $ value would plummet.
174   Onvacation   2019 Jul 14, 10:36pm

Newbie123 says
some people still have no idea what it is

They think it's digital gold.
175   WookieMan   2019 Jul 15, 5:07am

Newbie123 says
You would need to research your statements. They are all incorrect. You cannot stop/destroy a truly decentralized cryptocurrency like bitcoin

You might want to get a balanced view on things you really don’t understand. It’s not all pumping.

https://learncryptography.com/cryptocurrency/51-attack

And no one ever said destroy. It exists. Hard to destroy things that already exist. Just like you can still find beanie babies. Even if it’s $100 (lol, dollars) a coin it still would have wiped out most people holding. So yes, pretty much worthless.

And as long as US law enforcement has warrants to search your home and computer, they can do whatever they want. They make it illegal to have crypto, your “currency” plummets to what is mathematically nothing compared to current values even if they only search 100 known bitcoin holders. No business would accept bitcoin also smashing the value. No public exchanges.

You’re naive to think a larger government can’t influence or destroy the “price” of bitcoin.
176   WookieMan   2019 Jul 15, 6:12am

I don’t like to do this as it’s about a user but I think it’s important for anyone watching this or the other crypto thread, whether regular users or lurkers. I think the behavior and his comments are dangerous. Mods can erase it but I’m only referencing what this person has made public themselves.

Newbie made an AWFUL call back in Dec 2017 during the run up and then disappeared for almost two years. Now comes back pumping BTC again. Do NOT listen or take any of his advice. You WILL lose money. He most certainly lost a shitload if his past comments are to be taken truthfully. Don’t know his motive for posting here but it’s pure pumping/pushing garbage. Read through the history yourself before he deletes it (got screenshots though, so this could get funny).

Obviously never listen to anyone on an Internet forum, but there have been good calls made by some intelligent people here (on other threads). Just avoid this one.

Going to try to avoid these threads myself so they’re not pushed to the top, but will still call out bs when I see it. Anyone that admits living in an in-laws stating they make 6 figures is, well, I guess I don’t need to say anything else.
177   WookieMan   2019 Jul 15, 12:28pm

Crickets on your call from ‘17. Lol. You’re a house cards buddy. Keep spamming the site.

Not the same.

Dollar is backed by full faith and credit of the entire country. Bitcoin is made up thing that contributes to global warming and is backed by nothing.

So yeah, besides didn't you lose your 20k already.

decentralized cryptocurrency?

Bitcoin has hornswoggled a lot of people. They call it "digital gold" that has to be "mined". It takes up a lot of resources to "create" and you end up with a passkey on a flash drive.

They call it a currency but it costs fees to use. It's price fluctuates so wildly that it is hard to calculate exchange rates. And it is slow compared to REAL currency or credit cards.

Some people are making money from the fools who are "investing" and "HODL". I suspect they (the fools) will still be holding after it has become clear to most people that there is no real value in a collection of 0s and 1s that need vast amounts of computing power to maintain while not working as a currency.
180   Onvacation   2019 Jul 17, 1:57pm

I agree, how do you stop a decentralized cryptocurrency? The only way would be to shut down the internet.....as if that will happen anytime soon. :)

51% attack. Explain HOW it CANNOT happen?

I enjoy a good trainwreck.
186   Onvacation   2019 Jul 18, 10:03am

Newbie123 says
Does that mean you think bitcoin is going to zero?

No. Like I said before, some people will hold bitcoin no matter what. Ever hear the term HODL?Newbie123 says
I don’t expect you to answer the questions. You never do.
187   Onvacation   2019 Jul 18, 10:08am

Newbie123 says
So, you define it as a train wreck but you don’t think it will go to zero?

Bitcoin has no intrinsic value and little extrinsic value beyond laundering money. The fanboys won't let it go to zero. There are still people holding out for $10k for their "rare" beeny baby.
188   Onvacation   2019 Jul 18, 10:12am

Newbie123 says
Are you sure train wreck is the right term for it then?

No.
It is a well thought out scam. They got the lingo associating it to gold. They set up artificial scarcity over decades.

Ultimately what is bitcoin but a string of 0s and 1s?
189   Onvacation   2019 Jul 18, 10:16am

What do you invest in?

Mutual funds, silver, and rare coins ( more of a hobby).

If you don't know who's getting scammed it might be you and the HODLers

Awwww, can’t handle the truth. Good call in December of ‘17. Solution, ignore someone. lol.

Take the time man, I’ve got wrong shit I’ve posted on this site. Cool part is I’m a man and can admit when I’m wrong. (You can log back in now - lol)

The transaction costs are obscene. Nor is it immune to government intervention/seizure or, increasingly, hackers:
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/jul/12/tokyo-cryptocurrency-exchange-hack-bitpoint-bitcoin

And this wasn't the first multi-million hack of crypto.

once bitcoin hits another all time high

When? It is less than half its all time high right now.

"Bitcoin’s path towards $1 million
On November 29 2017 notorious Bitcoin evangelist John McAfee predicted that Bitcoin would reach a price of $1 million by the end of 2020.

He even promised to eat his own dick if it doesn’t. Unfortunately for him it’s 92.5 percent behind being on track. Bitcoin‘s price should have been $124,152 by now, according to dickline.info."

Do you think McAfee will actually eat his own dick? Or is it just a euphemism?
199   mell   2019 Oct 27, 9:23am

There's absolutely no info given as to why it should rise. It's all pure speculation. Not saying it's worthless either as supply is constrained but there's no real price discovery possible. It's here to stay but new highs are highly questionable. Seems more like a casino bet. If you get the swings right you can certainly make some.
