Yeah if they say I must be a customer that's the backup plan. It may have had to do a bit with their appearance as well. I heard some Asian millenials in the restaurant talk about this rayscysm as if the fact-less conjecture report was gospel. Frighteningly naive. But then after a while at least one of them - dismissing white guilt - said, "I can't change the fact that I have white (yellow) skin and I am also a proud American". Atta-boy, apparently not all hope is lost.

If I need to use a restroom, I just walk into a Starbucks or something and use it. If it's locked and needs a token, I just ask for one and tell them I need to use the restroom before ordering.

Ok so we have a bit more. First, the story as originally told, omitted enough facts as to be misleading. Second the police did absolutely nothing wrong. Third, the victims were non compliant. This is what created the arrest and was a really bad idea. Cops ask you to do something, even if you think it’s within your rights to not do it, you do it. “Hey just leave so we don’t have to arrest you” “no, we didn’t do anything wrong”. This will always end bad. Fourth, the white lliberal morons who were there and commenting that the two guys did nothing are really really stupid. I can’t emphasize this enough. Painfully stupid and ignorant.

Anyway all of this could have been avoided unless the point is to create yet another media shit storm.probably why the media refused to report the truth in the first place.

Jesus, I don't even think that the workers did anything wrong. Those tables fill up and if your paying customers can't sit and do their work or just enjoy their drink, there is a problem. Any normal person would have bought their coffee, sat down, and waited for the person they were supposed to meet. Now, because one store had an incident which I'm not even going to fault them fore, all stores nationwide need to suffer and be put through some stupid training? Society has reached a level of derangement that is absolutely perplexing.

The left is fighting for the right to use the bathroom at Starbucks without purchasing anything.

This has not affected Starbucks stock price, so far. I find this puzzling.

A better response would be for the executives to politely say that the store did nothing wrong. A store is not a free public restroom. The restroom maintenance in a private business is paid for by customers who buy things, and the public should respect that and buy something if they want to use the restroom. Starbucks might get a lot of public support for showing some spine instead of being spineless.

If the public wants public restrooms, that's a valid concern and could be dealt with as other public infrastructure like roads is dealt with, via taxes.

I had a guy get salty with me when I didn't initially let him use my shop bathroom. He had bought a motorhome from me almost a year before, and I totally didn't recognize him when he pushed into the office one morning and greeted me with, "YAW DON'T GOT A BAFROOM!?!" After introductions, explanation, and him using the bathroom, he still complained we treated him rudely. That's the way literal bums demand to use the restroom, then proceed to fuck it all up inside. Act like one, get treated like one.
