I always said it, go after money and it’ll solve the problem fast. Obama was too incompetent to understand that. “America First” isn’t a liberal thing.
As much as illegal immigration needs to be curtailed, I would say my preference would be to go after the employers first. Don't put a pie on the sill and not expect flies. Wait, was that racist?

No, it's perfectly logical that if you can travel to a different country and make much more than you could in your own, you would do that. Race is irrelevant.
I wholeheartedly agree that going after the employers could be effective. However, the government should be consistent and thorough. As it is now, enormous numbers of employers in certain businesses hire illegals, but enforcement is so spotty that it isn't a deterrent. Please check out "Gresham's law" on wikipedia or elsewhere.
Instead, I fear, these kind of raids are being used as a political weapon. The government can target and punish certain people or companies that don't toe the "correct" political line or don't given enough "donations" to the right politicians.
This is just like Manafort's current predicament. He, like nearly all "operatives" in his field, has broken numerous laws for decades. It would be great if thousands of people like him landed in jail, but the reality is that thousands get a free pass and only he is being targeted merely because he worked briefly on the Trump campaign.
