Marcus - I think the reality is that private unions have been driving wages down all on their own as they sell out new workers to keep better benefits for existing workers doing the exact same work. There is nothing new here. The fact is that private unions no longer want to fight. When they do, they can get concessions (hotel workers in SF just settled for some decent increases, etc...). But, generally, the private union want to protect their existing employees and screw all the new folks, and keep their cushy high paid union management jobs.

"Civil" servants ought to think about how to keep the Tax Donkeys from getting out of Dodge, instead new ways (taxes on text messaging or whatever) to feast on their Golden Goose, lecturing the rest of us on how it's our problem that we're "jealous" of them.

I want my kids to live close to me. Southern Orange County, or Northern San Diego. No where else.
