$690/mo for 350 sq ft

Back in '92 it was also $700, but in yen terms 30% higher (Â¥90,000).

So rents have gone down 20% since 1992 in Tokyo.

The other place I rented in 1992, in LA, rented for $700 then and is probably pushing $2000/mo now.

Another tale of two cities . . .

This is such a great layout for a bachelor pad, too. I loved having the poo place in its own little room, plus it was isolated from the main room by a small hallway.

Nice big bathroom, in the winter it was great to draw a big hot bath and soak with the window open to let in the freezing air.

WIndows on three sides, let in a lot of air and light . . .

If I could, I'd move back today! $8400/yr for housing, cheap!

Kichijoji is a pretty hip neighborhood, now, too. It's a major commercial center for the entire westside commuter belt. It's got a nice big park

You mean like a bathroom?

Because otherwise it'd double as the kitchen sink.

The box full of sand wasn't intended for you.

Isn't it better then the kitchen sink?

no, the bathroom is next to the washroom!

So which is the special poo place, the washstand in the washroom or the bathtub in the bathroom?

where it says "WC"

and it was a closet!

hmm, I think I'd like living here more than an RV, TBH.

Probably cheaper, too.

Though the more optimal solution would be for me to build a cabin with a plan something like this. 300 sqft is tight, but less space is certainly easier to heat & cool.

When I was house-sitting for my friend earlier this month, I got kinda tired of the long hike from his study to the kitchen. Took a real investment of effort to get there. One person doesn't need that much space, though I suppose two do.

Oh, you're been reading and fantasizing about those 'tiny house' threads again.
