Leave it to Tucker Carlson to demonstrate utter hypocrisy.
1. He's pretending to promote liberal values, the very same values he criticizes all the time. Of course, he does not actually hold those values and is just using them to attack the left, in which he is now including ESPN.
2. He's falsely accusing ESPN of punishing a person for his name. To punish a person is to inflict harm on that person for the purpose of deterring behavior or to get revenge, neither of which applies to ESPN. ESPN's decision is solely based on marketing image and profit-seeking. It is capitalistic greed that cause ESPN to reassign Robert Lee. It is not punishment, but capitalism at work.
3. Tucker Carson worships capitalism as a god.
Now pulling Robert Lee from his assignment is damn silly and stupid, but that's what you get with capitalism. Profits trump what is right. Direct all your moral outrage to the stupid economic system of giving complete control over production and distribution to a small number of owners. That's what caused this entire situation, and this is hardly the first time that profits have taken priority over morality under this economic system. In fact, that happens every single second of every single day.
I agree with this. I don't see any form of punishment happening here.
Of course, ESPN said the decision was made by everyone involved, so there is a small chance that in that private meeting there may have been a threat of punishment if Lee did not go along. But that is not a matter of public record, so as of now this cannot be considered 'punishment'...
