This is going to come across as me being an ass. Not my intention. Do you actually like a song like this? Or are you just posting these to be weird?

I honestly don't care either way. Music is definitely an opinion. Not a chance in hell we're all going to agree on what's good. I guess I just don't understand this type of music. And this can of course be said for a lot of music. I check this thread out occasionally and you sometimes catch me with stuff I know and then there's this.

Well, I haven't thought of this song in years but when I was on the John I heard it in my head in a flash. Sure. I'm really digging the retrowave stuff the kids are making today:www.youtube.com/embed/RKI5-WCd-fM

Cool. I'm not judging, just weird music to me. Can't recall from other threads if you smoke pot, but I'd probably enjoy it more high, with some headphones on. My weird out stuff is something like Saucerful of Secrets by PF. The other PF mainstays rock, but I like that one and Animals is fucking delicious after a joint.

The one genre of music that really bothers me is country from personal experience. With pop music you know you're being sold a load of garbage, over produced, over sexed product. I actually do enjoy some of it. Country pretends to be authentic, but it's soooooo fake. Maybe worse then pop music.

Just had an acquaintance move down to Nashville. He's been there a year trying to do the country scene. The first video he posts pushing his music, about two weeks after moving, he's full blown throwing out the y'all and the southern accent BS. 2 Fucking weeks. 34 years in IL, same town from birth until his move.

They're literally coached to act that way by other country "musicians." Have your cheesy country lyrics, but to completely morph your personality to "try" and make it is a joke. Just make some good fucking music. If it's good people will buy it.

My god, that was a fucking tangent. Sorry.

Right on. Not a huge country fan.

Probably my least favorite forms of music is Folk Music, which is usually a bunch of upper class twits pretending to be wise, down home working class types, and mid-late 90s rock music of the post-grunge/pop-punk era, which combined the worst of two genres: Boring Repetitiveness of Punk Rock with the insipid lyrics of Pop, usually cribbing the Quiet-Loud style of the Pixies (who themselves were highly original and interesting).

The Indigo GIrls, the daughters of doctors/dentists/lawyers who went to super expensive private colleges and grew up in luxury, are a great example of "Fake Working Class" Folk Music usually embodies. Both in HS and College, I never remember anybody who wasn't at least from a near-six-figure income household liking folk music.

Ever notice that folk singers need like a two minute rant/spiel before each song? Can't just say thanks and get into it.

I do however like "real" Folk Music, like let's kill all the Turks and burn the Croat Village, or our the Maxim Gun on our Horse-drawn Cart crushes the invader.

Now here's a proper Irish Folk Song, plotting in the pub to take over the town.

Bad Folk Music - This is so typical, it's a Poe, I don't even know if it's earnest or a joke.

Actually the above is genuine, I saw the guys other videos.

Here is a kick ass folk song. A Communist Theme song so I can't be accused of political bias.

"Go racing, Maxim Gun Cart of Kiev, Mow down enemies as we ride! Our steeds of Fire and Flame!"
266   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Feb 4, 10:54pm

And another horrible Folk Song

Usually a single chick performing alone with no accompaniment , with an acoustic guitar or in front of a piano, almost guarantees the suck. See also Tori Amos.

Your Arrows post refreshed the Foo Fighters most recent album, Concrete and Gold. Arrows was a solid song on that album

My favorite song on that album though, Sunday Rain. Two take drum track by Sir Paul. Keep it simple stupid drummers.

And then there's just everyone jamming out.

Get to Red Rocks for a show. This band or any band you like. Bucket list shit. Just don't park in the lowest lot (East of the venue, can't remember if the lot had a name).

A Selection from my Favorite Chill Out/Get High Album:

You'll see the cover is a salute to Pink Floyd's Animals.
279   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Feb 16, 10:41am

And of course the "Back Side of the Moon" (another Pink Floyd Salute)

So we lost anonymous's comments here? I saw he pulled them down. That kind of sucks.

I don't very often, but I will sometimes come back to this thread to check out some of the older posts for new listening ideas. Thought we were close to 600 comments on this, so lost some good stuff I imagine.

Two dislikes for "I love Rock n' Roll" and "Cum On Feel the Noize". Looks like we got some sad Folk Music lovers in the crowd.

No worries, I give you a hair metal ballad.

Another song I remembered while sitting on the John.

Remember that one - great song. Sort of a one hit wonder though.

Another one, this time I was drifting off to sleep when I remembered this minor hit:

The older I get, the more I prefer McVie over Nicks.

I don't know why, of all the things going on in that song, but I love the sound of that snare drum.

FYI, the thread is what you're listening to this evening, not morning ;)
