A man in Argentina changed his last name from Sergio to Sergia so that he/she could change his/her gender to female. The reason is that females in Argentina are eligible to retire at age 60, while men have to wait till 65. Their legislation also states a woman can retire at age 65 — the same as the age of a man — but they will receive a higher pension. Argentina’s gender identity law, which was approved May 8, 2012, also noted the new name an individual takes must be respected, Transgender Europe reported. Argentina also allows people to legally change their gender without any type of sex reassignment surgery.
Gotta love it.
