It appears that ours beloved congressman enjoy 6 years terms with unlimited repeats just for having fun in Washington. How many achievements we have in last two years (and beyond) in Congress, beside fighting for power, investigate, probes, suing, threatening, lying, subpoena, etc.
There's a separate argument for paying members of congress extremely well, giving them a lifetime pension at the end of their term, but in exchange barring them from any other future employment. The idea is that it cuts down on corruption and prevents the representative->lobbyist career trajectory and associated incentives.
