Anyone wants to risk a bet on the eventual number of sick people? Dead people?

Rats swarm New Orleans' streets as coronavirus precautions leave them empty

With restaurants closed save for take-out service, far less food waste is being discarded in the city's alleyways, driving the local rodent population out into the open to search for scraps.

Interesting the exact inversion. Malaria likes the heat around the equator, CV the cold.

Try google data sources. They unified them into 1.

Mell,

Where do you get your numbers from? According to Worldometers.com, we have 110 new cases in CA today, which is fantastic. Looks like we may have turned the corner, which is going up at a decelerating rate.

They do have now and yesterday button for comparison. Just write it down to track 3 days or more.

This site resets at 0:00 GMT but is constantly updated so the real reset happens around 7 pm PST. If you only see a few cases it means the counting for the day has just started and/or a few cases were carried over. 110 would be fantastic but it's currently around 750-800 per day. Check back tomorrow around 6 pm PST to get close to the final tally for the day. We had well over a 1000 new cases 3 days ago so 758 for yesterday is pretty good. Let's hope this trend of lower/flat new infections continues.

""The Daily Mail correspondent described how cages of different species of animals were piled on top of each other. The same report added that in another meat market in Dongguan in southern China, a medicine seller advertised bats (widely believed to be the cause of the initial Wuhan outbreak) along with scorpions and other creatures on sale. ...

Another correspondent who visited Dongguan said: “The markets have gone back to operating in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus. The only difference is that security guards try to stop anyone taking pictures which would never have happened before.”

One town in northern Italy has no cases at all:

https://www.afrinik.com/mystery-of-ferrera-erbognone-residents-all-appear-to-be-immune-to-coronavirus/

The more than a thousand inhabitants of the town of Ferrera Erbognone in the north of Italy appear none of them susceptible to the coronavirus. While Covid-19 infections and deaths are widespread in surrounding municipalities, the town in the severely affected Italian region of Lombardy is not affected. Scientists suspect that the inhabitants are somehow immune to the disease. Analyzes of their blood must show how this is possible.
According to Italian media, who speak of the Ferrera Erbognone conundrum, the Mondino Institute in the nearby town of Pavia is awaiting permission from the government to begin investigating residents. The mayor of the city has already sent a message to the population that they can register for a free and voluntary blood test. Family members of residents who live elsewhere in Italy are also invited. The blood can be taken in laboratories or at people’s homes.

The research should show whether the inhabitants of Ferrera Erbognone actually have antibodies in their system that protect them naturally against the coronavirus. The tentative hypothesis is that there is something in the immune system of this small population that may explain why no one has been affected by the new, highly contagious flu virus.

It may have something to do with hereditary traits that originated in the once remote town in the past. If anything is found in the blood of the population, it may be the key to finding something, such as a vaccine, against corona.
1266   mell   2020 Mar 29, 9:55am

Very interesting. I have suspected there's more this from a genetic or immune perspective. Medicine is fascinating. On the good news front it looks like Germany has flattened the curve successfully. SF has added 32 more cases, growing at a lesser rate now down to 10%.

Wuhan locals claim coronavirus has killed 42,000 people in the city alone, more than ten times the national figure claimed by Chinese authorities. ...

But residents in Wuhan claim 500 urns have been handed out to grieving families every day from seven separate funeral homes all serving the city.

This means the ashes of 3,500 people are distributed every 24 hours.

This would be far larger than the official Chinese report of 3,182 deaths in Hubei Province.

Depends on if you count every dead who had CV. Germany only counts those with no serious underlying conditions.

Despite the continued alarmist BS and TDS on here let the facts talk. Today's total new infections were 1k less than yesterday. CA dropped from over 1100 to 655 within a few days.

https://spectator.us/uk-coronavirus-cases-slowing-key-adviser-reveals/

In the UK we can see some early signs of slowing in some indicators. Less so deaths, because deaths are lagged by a long time from when measures come in force. But if we look at the numbers of new hospital admissions, that does appear to be slowing down a little bit now. It has not yet plateaued, so still the numbers can be increasing each day, but the rate of that increase has slowed.

US also kinda looks like it's nearing a peak:
