Climbing Everset (sic) is all about ego.

Yup. There's literally no gain from doing it. I could jack off 30 times in a day, but what would that accomplish? Kind of the way I look at Everest. Waste of time to score a stupid point with your peers who are also likely stupid.

The Irish were considered lowlife scum in early America, because our Landlords were British, and the British considered them lowlife scum. They had been persecuted for Centuries before America was even discovered. They were oppressed so much, they had low self esteem and lived in squalor and went around dirty and ragged.
The only reason they were brought to America was to be indentured servants, basically White Slaves. After 100 yeas of doing that, the New England area had a large population of them. The American police wanted nothing to do with patrolling the Paddy zones, so they deputized a few. They did so well at it, and had such a knack for policing. They were eventually made to police areas outside of the Irish neighborhoods.

What I have always wondered about is if climbing Mt. Everest is some sort of intense/ultimate challenge, why do they go up the easy way?

Valid point. Also, why not do it in the off season? It gets so crowded during the easy season, why not really challenge yourself and prove yourself to...... well I don't know who. But climb that fucker when there's a 50% higher chance of death. Hell, make it live TV and sell that shit and make money doing stupid shit instead of paying for it. It's comical they pay to potentially die.

This was a topic I never thought I'd have an opinion on. Everest climbers are the purest form of retardation. I know there's worse, but they've got to be top 50 for sure.

The mistake Thomas Becker made was trying to help the obviously incompetent woman.
He should have told her to quit.
Instead, he held up everyone else. Of course they yelled at him and the woman.

Did he consider someone stole his cylinders out of spite?

“Lead, follow, or get out of the way.” applies to climbing too.

Oh and you couldn’t catch me dead trying to climb up Everest.

Becker, an American former rock guitarist who teaches human rights law at Harvard University, was startled by the ruthlessness of his fellow climbers.

A lawyer startled by ruthlessness. Isn't that on the same page with gagging a maggot. I thought he would just pick up a few pointers.

Everybody knows that you don't just steal people's oxygen. You get them embroiled in a lawsuit, and the court and lawyers steal their oxygen.

On Thursday, KCBS Radio's Doug Sovern asked the governor, "I've heard from a number of people who don't understand why they're being told you can't go see grandpa this weekend, you can't see Uncle Joe, you can't have a barbecue with your neighbors but then they turn on the TV and see hundreds or thousands of people protesting. So can you explain the selective enforcement or preferential treatment given based on political persuasion? Can you explain to people why they should listen to these messages when they do see that happening and no one is getting tickets, no one is even being told to enforce the masks or social distancing?"
Newsome said, "I maybe was unique in my household but I don't think I was, I think it was universally taught: Just because someone else is doing it, doesn't mean you should," Newsom said. "People know what the right thing to do is. I encourage them to do the right thing. And people also understand that we have a Constitution, we have a right to free speech and we are all dealing with a moment in our nation's history that is profound and pronounced... but I recognize the dichotomy and to the extent the dialectic between those examples and all I can offer is this consideration: Do what you think is best not only for you but for the health of the people you love."
He misses the point that he is using force to enforce his version of right behavior and yes, we have a Constitution, we have a right to free speech which includes right to assembly and seeking redress. But if this is safe, so is enjoying the the rights provided by the fat that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
ANd I would argue there is a right to be with family and friends and that displays of patriotism are a form of free speech, assembly and seeking redress.

Exactly.

I see a lot of help wanted signs in the Florida panhandle. McDonalds hiring at $13 to start. St Joe is offering a $500 signing bonus plus $12 to start for their resorts like handing out towels and umbrellas.

And rents have stabilizing to about $0.90 to $1 per square foot.

I'll tell you what's happening.

States are putting some of their employees on unemployment on purpose, while paying them the balance.

I don't know how it's possible, but I know several people where this is happening in two different states.

...that and many unemployed are furloughed officially. That means the employer furloughs them (which isn't a permanent layoff), tells unemployment agencies that, the employee gets counted as employed or unemployed depending on who/how the stats are measured, gets unemployment assistance and/or combo of unemployment and payroll protection subsidies (which the employer gets to never or almost never pay back to the feds if done right). Etc,etc. until they come back to work.

They're getting full pay while working half time and the states have them do something Re: Unemployment, so this sounds right.

Artificial financial crisis deserves artificial unemployment numbers.

There's a shit ton of people on UE, that refuses to get a job, because now they are making more than when they were working.

More over, Obama's artificial UE numbers were never an issue. Patnet seemed like the only website in all of Internetdom, even discussing it at the time.

That paper was an outright lie then as it is now.

The Primariy process is precise controlled Election Choices to make the voter feel like they have a say in selecting the predetermined 2 party candidates.

Trump exposed exactly what happens, when the Anointed choices are bested by a run away wagon.

As in 2000 as in 2016 and as it has been since Reagan's final years. The Bush Dynasty, and the two corrupt Political parties were in direct collaboration on selecting the two Presidential candidates. It didn't matter if Al Gore won or lost, the Bush years would have played out the same, it didn't matter if Clinton won or lost, his years would played out the exact same as well. You see how Trump has brought all of these crooks together in their bipartisan effort to thwart the will of the people and guy they elected.
Kerry, Gore, Shit Stain McCain, Mittens, were all part of the very same regime they lost elections to.

In 1665, the inhabitants of Eyam selflessly confined themselves to the village. A third of them died, but they kept the disease from reaching other towns. This would not have worked if the carriers were rats.

1/3rd is normal for the Medieval Black Death

Black Plague spread by Fleas, and "A bath when you're born, and another to see your through the Pearly Gates, are the only baths you'll ever need" was a slogan back then.

In England, as most of Europe, Filthiness was next to Godliness as Stylites, Hermits, and Prophets did not bathe. Bathing was the sin of vanity, and even the vain Spaniards and Italians only bathed once a month. Medieval revisionists greatly mislead about bathing at the time; there were a few baths mostly known for miracles and healing properties, they were only used in special instances and few and far between.

Jews were least effected, which led to "Poisoning the Well" stories. Why effect Jews less? All Jews back then were observant and required to wash face and hands before all meals, and upon getting up and going to bed. Additionally, there are Talmudic requirements that mandate regular washing, esp. for women after menstruation.

Whereas for Catholics, wearing the same hair shirt for weeks and never bathing were marks of Piety; the opposite the sin of Vanity. Interestingly, Orthodoxy did not believe this and rates of Black Plague outside big cities were low.

Humans carried these fleas, not just Rats. Cats and dogs and really all mammals like Stoats and Foxes, carried the fleas.

Right? It's so well established it's almost beyond debate. We've observed plague in modern times and it fits the reports of the 1300s (and 600s) perfectly. And the vector is certainly fleas, which has been established by biology.

The virulent medieval plague killed people about 3-5 days after first symptoms - that was what was most shocking about it. Some lethagy on day one, and dead in a few days, covered with massive buboes.

This is like arguing that malaria is due to a lack of social distancing and not wearing a mask.

Julian then said something along the lines of: That will benefit Trump who knows how to feed off the anger of the multitudes toward the educated, upper middle-class elites. I agreed, saying that DiEM25 has been warning since 2016 that socialism for the oligarchy and austerity for the many, in the end, feeds the racist ultra-right. That we are experiencing again what happened in the 1920s in Italy with the rise of Mussolini.

Agreed, but with caveat that this feeds both ultra-right and ultra-left.

We don't even have the ultra-right, unless you look under a microscope somewhere. They are an invented bogeyman used to justify pervasive leftist violence.

The situation indeed is somewhat like 1933 Germany, but with the leftists taking the place of the Nazis: banning books, censoring speech, firing or beating up anyone who dares to disagree.

What is wrong.

My mind is still reeling after watching the rabid attacks on both of those shows on Fox, yet to hear them, and Trump, they are the ones that are being attacked!

I ordered food from a small place struggling to get though the shutdown here in Sunnyvale, California.

The Indian owner of the food place was playing Trump's speech as he was making it.

That wasn't only an act of bravery on his part, but it also tells you how much small business is pissed off with the local establishment government. People have no idea how pissed off small business owners are fucking enraged by the local governments here, and they are all democrats.

My meal was $10 - I tipped him $7.
