Can't let the Constituency Chew on the Facts coming out about the illegitimate 44 oppressive regime.
Anyone able to get Disqus to load?
I went to a tech meetup at the Disqus office in SF just to check it out a few years ago. Nothing special.
But it did give me the idea that patrick.net could become a place to comment on any site, not only those that allow comments. Going to work on that one day.
@richwicks What was the excuse for shutting it down?
I could make a browser plugin which automatically checks patrick.net for any url you're on and displays a red dot or something if there are comments, but that would mean that the browser plugin would always be reporting urls you surf back to patrick.net, which seems creepy.
Don't moderate it either. I know ways to moderate having users do it. I need to file that patent.
But where would the comments be stored? @richwicks
What is the legal risk? I'm pretty sure it would be OK to screenshot the current browser window and comment on that, because copyright does not apply to bits that you are specifically selecting for discussion.
But what about darker things, where users are threatening each other with physical violence? This has happened on patrick.net. Or uploading child porn? They might do that either because they are just sick, or deliberately to get the site shut down.
Or maybe someone sets up leftist-bots to just spam the comments with bullshit supporting China/Biden and illegals.
I suppose I could just try it with patrick.net with its current moderation system.
