Anyone even mildly surprised????

HOUSE.🗳️

"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to abolish the ELECTORAL COLLEGE and to provide for the DIRECT ELECTION of the... President of the United States."

The Democratic Party moves to nationalize elections & solidify a permanent majority.🔻

They seem to do just fine stealing elections under the current system, so why bother?

It's about time for Texas to leave the union.

We invite the states of OK and LA to join us.

The rest of the country can go fuck itself. Good luck with Kamala and AOC as your brace new leaders, jerks.

Most of the center of the country is red. Places like CO are definitely red, but Denver is a problem. Similar to IL with Chicago. You have these tiny urban centers (land mass), where probably 20-30% of their population has never even left their city. Yet they somehow want to dictate how much of the country lives from the enclaves of pure shit.

Constututional amendments are very hard to pass. This one is going nowhere. It's just posturing, relax.

It's less effort this way. Ballot stuffing, keeping vote watchers at bay, lying about burst water mains, backdating postmarks, and all those other activities are a lot of work, you know!

The Dem's literally stole the election and hold power in all three branches. I doubt it's posturing.

They don't have 2/3 vote in both chambers of Congress. And they don't have 3/4 of state legislatures. This is what it takes to pass a constitutional amendment, iirc. These things are much harder to steal than votes in some ghetto districts.

Except 99.99% of the Republicans are cucked out losers drunk on power. I wouldn't underestimate them. They stole an election for fucks sake.

With popular vote, fraud in a single state will have spillover into all the other states.

You just contradicted yourself.

If they have a pretty surefire way of stealing elections under the current system, then why bother trying to REALLY amend the Constitution? It's posturing.
Not true. They don't have a "surefile" way of stealing elections. Perhaps their current tactics won't work in the future. Better to change laws to cement that power forever.

With the current precedent, what's to stop Texas from saying 100,000,000 people voted for their guy if we go to popular vote?

We need an Iraqi style one person one vote stick your finger in the indelible dye kind of system.

Let's keep the electoral college AND end the fraudulent elections.

Census? Voter registry?

Both very hard to quicky audit and no other state would have any standing anyway....

But how do you end fraudulent elections in one-party states where the party in power doesn't want this shit to end?
