In my opinion, it’s a colossal pump-and-dump scheme, the likes of which the world has never seen. In a pump-and-dump game, promoters “pump” up the price of a security creating a speculative frenzy, then “dump” some of their holdings at artificially high prices. And some cryptocurrencies are pure frauds. Ernst & Young estimates that 10 percent of the money raised for initial coin offerings has been stolen.

The losers are ill-informed buyers caught up in the spiral of greed. The result is a massive transfer of wealth from ordinary families to internet promoters. And “massive” is a massive understatement — 1,500 different cryptocurrencies now register over $300 billion of “value.”

And this is why nobody use bitcoins to buy anything ever again.

How do you hodle bitcoin?

But seriously, conservative meme makers need to get their grammar and spelling exactly correct for maximum impact.

Leftists find memes much easier to dismiss if the leftist can feel good about finding a spelling error in it. Their whole life is about resentment for being middle school losers, and how they think they compensated by being better students.
786   Bitcoin   2021 Feb 1, 5:57pm

You HODL by not selling, you hold on for dear life. It basically means, that you dont panic sell during dips.....you add more and buy the dip. HODL=SMART INVESTING

Hold On for Dear Life!

There are a horde of (future) bitcoin millionaires that are never going to sell until they reach the price point they know it will one day go to (moon shot).

HODLers keep the price high because all of the new incoming "coins" come mostly from the miners. When a couple million "retail" retail buyers spend $20 a piece at the "crypto kiosk" at their local liquor store the price per coin is bid up considerably. It's like a lottery ticket.

Some fools accumulate with no intention of ever selling until the price in "fiat" meets some exponential multiple of what they "bought in" for. Them is they that "HODL".
788   Onvacation   2021 Feb 1, 6:43pm

"miners"
789   Onvacation   2021 Feb 1, 6:47pm

It's a Ponzi scam by definition. The only way to get your money out id for the greater fool to put their money in. No assets. No cash reserves. No dividends. All incoming money consumed by the miners to buy electricity, hardware, food, shelter, etc. If you want to sell someone has to buy.
790   Onvacation   2021 Feb 1, 6:48pm

Fortunately for the unscrupulous trader that doesn't care about who it hurts or the environmental damage caused by bitcoin, there are a lot of fools.

Don't even need to lose the password. No one accepts BTC as a currency. Gotta pay $$$ for the pizza. That's not ever changing.
793   Bitcoin   2021 Feb 1, 8:21pm

Dont bother buying pizza with your precious digital gold coins! Buy real estate/Pay off mortgages

What is that? You still have one? Lol. Point proven. You don't have any crypto. Ass shown as usual.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Since you have a mortgage to pay off, I now get that you cannot travel. I'm sorry for pestering the topic. My apologies. May you one day be able to enjoy life.

I bet if you keep trading those 100shares of LUV into BTC, you will have enough for a downpayment (soon). I hear IL is pretty cheap compared to nice places like SoCal.
798   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 8:42pm

So no travel? I totally get how that could be miserable. I feel for ya. You'd figure the crypto turned out for you so you'd be wealthy and could do whatever you'd want. I guess not. Can't answer a question. Where did you travel last?

I live where others do vacation. Those "others" are usually peeps who live in IL and are tired of shoveling snow.....not everyone can afford the sunshine tax :)

low 70's the next few days.....gonna do some MTB'ing and hiking with the doggy.

Naive. Figured as much. I don't shovel, I have people for that.

Fun part is I pay 1/10th of what you do and I don't live under a Nazi regime AND I make more. 70's is not that nice. I'll take 80's and boating around St. Thomas and St. John over riding a bike. I mean my kids might like that, not my cup of tea. Adults gotta adult, lol.

Don't be jealous. And don't beat yourself up over it. Start investing and:

Huh? Jealous of what? I'd hit 13% income tax in CA and have to buy a $2M+ house to even come close to my life in IL. Not worth it for some sunny 70's and some bike riding. I'm not 12.

You clearly like burning cash. Honestly a lot of people on this site like burning through a fuck ton of cash to live in CA. I'll live a better life currently, I'll live a better life in early retirement, heck I'll just live a better life. Enjoy CA until you're 70. I'll be in the Caribbean by 48 and retired.

Where have you vacationed though? Or do you just mountain bike? Sounds miserable.

What's your moon shot price when you cash in and buy some REAL estate?
806   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:26pm

Enjoy. I've got more. This is all during covid and I've got more. I'm sure Socal is so great. I've been there. I've been to better. Enjoy biking though.

807   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:30pm

Super bad time at the Westin St. John. Boat with the tallest mast in the middle, Epstein island in the background.

Where did you travel again? Or did you just mountain bike?

808   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:35pm

Oh yeah, Utah. Forgot about that.
809   Onvacation   2021 Feb 1, 9:36pm

Napoli's Pizza in Benicia or Vallejo. Awesome crust lots of garlic. Bits can't buy pizza.
810   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:39pm

Lone Peak. Big Sky. This is what men do. This is all in the last year. What did you do?

811   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:44pm

Shit. Forgot about Mexico.... Let me know what you did with your bitcoin during a pandemic. This is what I did... lol.

812   WookieMan   2021 Feb 1, 9:54pm

Someone had to go on the night shift I guess. Oh well. Just glad I don't have to live in mom's basement and not experience the above photos.... Not sure how one could live like that.

We're living in a virtual world. Why should money be real?

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are just symptoms of this fucked up system.

I wouldn't go again. That's some real ass snowboarding/skiing. Early season too. Rocky. Glad I did it though. Trying to get out there in March, but I'm not getting on the tram again to get to the top. The kids need dad, lol.

You know better...

FYI, those are legit my photos of travels. Where did you go last year G36? A mountain bike path near your parents home? Show us some fun stuff you did with all those gains. Seriously interested in what a crypto lifestyle is like. Not sure why you'd keep dodging this if life was soooooooo good with crypto.

My 2020 during a "pandemic" blew your 2020 out of the water. You've yet to prove otherwise. Even with crypto gains, I'm 100% confident I did better finically given crypto was dead most of 2020. 100%. I had fun. You didn't. That's what I think and it's what you know. lol. You might be able to fill in for that deadbeat comedian Colbert. You're similar.

It's not true that he that dies with the most toys wins, it's he that plays with his toys the most while he is alive that is the winner. We can all win.

Okay, so we agree on the diagnosis.
Next question is, how can we help him?

Sunshine derangment syndrom.....not much I can do here.

Bitcoin derangement syndrome:
I would have him trade his 100 shares of LUV into BTC. At least that gives him some exposure. Any other thoughts?

Agreed. I think my photos show that. Looking at a computer screen and trading spreadsheets sounds miserable. And bragging about it not being able to show you had fun or even made money is even worse. Layer on top spamming a mainly non-financial forum showing nothing of gains or fun from anything you're spamming.

I'm just glad I had a better 2020 and know it. It was so good I don't have to worry about the crypto fad 2.0. All during a pandemic. Life is good.

I'm here.

Just because my home base is in IL, doesn't mean I'm there (missed the T). You'll learn some day. I can have homes and vacation for 1/2 the cost to live in CA. Retire dozens of years earlier. Bitcoin though... lol.
