Just flew to Phoenix. My buddy and I both wear neck gaiters for masks. Regular TSA gave him some shit. Said he needed to get a mask air side from some vendor.
TSA Pre guy didn't give a shit about mine. Didn't ask for a boarding pass either. Was kind of weird in hindsight. I've never been not asked to scan the boarding pass, ever. This was at Midway. Fucking weird. I wonder if there's some government funding they get if there's a lower number of passengers through TSA or something?
12-14 one way flights at this point and I don't wear a mask on the plane. SW is chill. I got crap twice, but complied. I do try and hide it with a neck pillow and hat.

AUSTIN, TX—Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has just lifted the mask mandate and is allowing business to return to 100% capacity. Flew in from Pensacola, FL last night. Airports are the one spot mask wearing is almost 100%. I decided to knock that percentage down a touch by not wearing the gaiter.
Not a single person said anything to me about it. It was kind of fun walking around in what "seems" like the most enforced place and no one giving a fuck. Got some side eye glances and no supporters of what I was doing. But nobody seemingly cared. I was hoping for a high five or something from someone seeing a non-masker at the baggage carousel as families of 4 all went to the front to get one fucking checked bag only 1' from me wearing a mask. It's sad, but also comical at the same point.
Also finally got away with not wearing it for ~90% of the flight. I think the flight attendants are done with it. They're in a tube with 100's of strangers for hours. They should all be dead at this point if covid was a thing. I also get some anxiety/claustrophobia being a taller guy and then being asked to wrap something around my face in a small space. I mean shit, if people can bring service hamsters onto planes, I should be excused from having to wear a mask because of my "feelings." lol.
I think in non-coastal areas (not including southern coastal states), even some big cities like Chicago, people have lost their patience with the whole deal. We'll see. I think there's light at the end of the tunnel. But the damage has been done.

Still looking at Tahoe in August, but I ain't dealing with mask shaming or mandates that CA has. So I'm hesitant. Might do Bozeman now that SW flies there and I can get free lodging. Might do the Carolinas (not sure where) as well. Hitting the Ozarks in May, but that's a work trip and we're driving.... 7 fucking hours.
