I was just curious how often people legitimately feel angry. It's odd, in that I really don't remember the last time I was legitimately angry. I think I just get surprised now, not angry.

It's off topic, and maybe a bit crazy, but I find that as I age, I have a smaller and smaller spectrum of emotional states and now it appears I'm starting to hit fundamental ones in that I can't really experience anger any more.

We'd have to farm every inch of the Earth to support our population organically. Understanding how the world actually works is intensely interesting to me.

People have no concept of their dependencies. End petroleum production for a year, we'll be down to less than a billion people alive, in one year. It's frightening because I understand the basics of petrol mining - we will run out in time - we just don't know when. Perhaps we have 1000 years worth of coal, maybe we only have 10, or 1 - all information is suspect. Hubbert's Peak was supposed to be hit in the Middle East in 2005 or so - perhaps we did hit it, but we cannot know.

It appears (appears!) the US hit Hubbert's Peak in the 1970's of the United States, but my uncle thought it was bullshit - maybe he was right? We were energy independent for a little while under Trump.

VERTICAL farming isn't competitive. Nor do I think it will until robotic mining, processing and construction of them at a semi-mature integration into the economy is achieved. Ditto with tending the greenhouses. Then every town might have it.

Vertical farming is just using natural gas, coal, nuclear power, and whatever to produce light to grow food. It's extremely inefficient.

It's easy to assume that what is newer is better, the reality is - it rarely (very rarely) is.
