Several counties in Oregon on May 18 voted to consider joining the state of Idaho, which is part of a long-shot movement to break away from the state that has long been dominated by politicians in Portland.

Voters in Malheur, Sherman, Grant, Baker, and Lake counties approved various measures that require county officials to take steps to look into moving the Idaho border west to incorporate the counties.

The grassroots group Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho is aiming to have the eastern counties—which are mostly rural—join Idaho because they believe they would be better off with Idaho’s more conservative political leadership.

“This election proves that rural Oregon wants out of Oregon,” lead petitioner Mike McCarter said in a statement to local media outlets on May 18. “If Oregon really believes in liberal values such as self-determination, the Legislature won’t hold our counties captive against our will. If we’re allowed to vote for which government officials we want, we should be allowed to vote for which government we want as well.”

Let them move.

If some woke city slickers are making laws to suit themselves while ignoring the needs of the rural counties, then they should let them leave the state to join something that would serve their needs better.

If stuff like this happened more often, you'd probably see govt make more of an effort to serve all their constituents, as they wouldnt want to lose the land and tax base.

Rural Northern CA from about Colusa/Yuba county north wants to have our own state as well.

The state constitution would have to have a pact that would disallow the shit show that is the CA constitution currently.

Cutting off the feral, liberal cancers of SF and LA from the rest of the state, and Portland from Oregon. It will never happen, because LA is so dependent on the water.

Of course, if rural Oregon becomes part of Idaho along with parts of NorCal, it would open my wife up to the idea of moving to Bend. She won't even consider it with the LibbyFuck clowns in power.

If you drive west from Portland and then head down the Pacific coast, as I did the other day, you get some of the flavor of the issue. Behind you is the moronic inferno of America’s so-called Rose City, where lots of people have tattoos and piercings, the general state of municipal repair is akin to Dresden in 1945 and a Republican has about as much chance of being elected to public office as I do of becoming the Super Bowl’s next MVP. Ahead lies a long chain of bucolic hamlets populated by friendly, well-dressed men and women in essence unchanged from the time of Ike in the White House and Dean Martin slurring his way through ‘That’s Amore’ on the radiogram. It’s as though the whole area has somehow managed to slip through a crack in the space-time continuum, to lie not so much indifferent as oblivious to the march of progress. You see long rows of neat, clapboard houses, many with a US flag fluttering out front, and spruce little towns with names like Rockaway Beach, Seaside, Tillamook and Wheeler.

Sounds good to me!

If any of the coast manages to secede from the tatted up pierced woketard part of the state, I will move there.

11 Oregon counties have voted to join Idaho so they don't have to endure Portland's politics

Joining Idaho will be hard, as two states have to agree as well as the US Congress. There is a precedent for a group of counties to secede and form a nww state, as in West Virginia.

I'm not sure I want part of Oregon joining Idaho. Are they all ready to give up their weed?
