2006 4Runner 175,000 miles

My wife's Prius went 240,000 before the battery started failing and the catalytic converter failed. Never broke down never had a break job. Nothing but oil changes and the timing belt; standard maintenance.

She bought a Subaru Impreza and now gets a little more street cred.

My 1998 Toyota Tacoma was awesome with 285,000 on it when I sold it to the guy who worked for me.
It didn’t lose oil between changes, and it was pretty fast.

He just replaced the radiator, fog and salt dissolve them after 20 years.

I drove it several times from Santa Cruz to Cabo San Lucas and back, it was great.

I’m planning to buy another used Toyota truck and will keep it in La Paz, BCS Mexico to ride around in.
I’ll ship it from Florida to San Diego then drive down.
I want either Prerunner or 4x4.

Tip: I always replaced the factory shocks with KYB gas shocks. The handling is much improved.

Our 4Runner is starting to show some tire cupping which means I’ll be replacing the originals shocks. Was thinking KYB or Bilstein.

I had an old Volvo 1965 122S years ago and I thought it was good but had a mushy ride.
I bit the biscuit for Bilstein shocks and installed them myself because I was broke.
Later I discovered KYB as a cheaper alternative.
When someday my Volvo S60 needs them, I will see which I will get.
It handles so great now, I don’t think I need them yet.

Just got our first Toyota about 2 months ago. We had a Nissan Armada and we got a Sequoia. It's built like a brick shit house. Only have towed about 3k lbs, but even then didn't notice it. I like the drive of it for sure. Everything thuds when you close it like it was built well and to last.

Biggest beef is the infotainment panel and some other electronic stuff. And yes, I knew what I was buying, but it's hard to judge this stuff until you use it a bit. The volume knob for the stereo is built for midgets apparently. The system itself is not intuitive at all. 3rd row seat button to raise and lower are in retarded locations. Backup camera is lacking. Cruise control switches and levers are in absolutely shit positions.

We're coming from a 2012 Armada Platinum to a 2018 Sequoia TRD Off-road. So yes, we have less bells and whistles, but I was expecting a touch more from a car 6 years newer. Not disappointed, just getting used to it. The climate controls are retarded as well on the Sequoia.

One of my top 10 friends is a Toyota engineer. He saved us almost $20k on the car based on KBB value. I can live with a few inconveniences. I am tempted to drive it out to MT though and flip it. Already put 10k miles on it and could probably make $20k selling it out there.

Which KYB model of shocks did you get? They seem to have several product versions.
