1000 Islands, as in the islands in upstate NY (prior to the St Lawrence River/channel), is basically 'Russian' dressing plus a mashed up egg w/ a hint of horseradish.

In other words, we already have an alternative to Russian dressing which is better, even though both were invented in the USA w/o the help of the Soviet Union.

I really don't care about islands in Upstate NY, i was focusing on the fake ass dressings made by Kraft, like Russian, French, Catalina, etc. To me, catsup, mayo, relish tastes and looks like 1000 island.....OTOH, russian is a deep red and sweet and french is orange.

Ok, but don't knock the 1K Islands until you've had a chance to visit. I think it's a great namesake for a tomato sauce, mayo, pickle, & mashed egg dressing.

They will empty all of the unsold Russian dressing into a vat, and add mayo, then repackage it as French dressing.

Russian dressing appears to have been memory holed, and given the full Mandela Effect.

They are now calling what was always Russian dressing "Catalina Dressing", and calling what was always "Thousand Island" Russian dressing.

Russian dressing is and always was, French Dressing without the Mayo.
