Oh, you mean Logan Mohtashami.
Yes, he was on here a lot.
@Strategist also used to put great stuff. Did he quit. I like his messages.
The police did call me about Turtledove's murder, and I told them what I knew, which isn't all that much. Just about her posting here, and having met her once.I miss her. Is it wrong to repost her topless pic as a tribute? She was damn cute.
Wow, patrick.net is still alive? I first ran into you guys in 2003 time frame after purchasing my 3rd house. I have total of 4 now. All in the bay area. My most expensive purchase was $450K. Today, you can't buy a bathroom for $450K. But at the time, everyone thought I was a moron for being a homeowner. To make a long story short, everyone predicted I would go bankrupt and being a homeowner was the worst thing anybody can possibly do. I still have all those properties and I'm so glad people of patrick.net didn't sway my mind. Thank God. If I had a nickel for every time somebody predicted a housing crash ...Cool story, bro. So no crash coming?

Meh, as long as you didn’t buy in a narrow window between 2006-2007, 2008 was a RE blip in the big picture.

Sounds like you probably made reasonable purchases that fit within your budget as you were able to hold onto them through the crash. I'm still waiting for a sane economy, or a property that makes sense. No regrets as I've never spent as much as someone who pays mortga...

What ever was the conclusion/verdict?
Take it from an old timer. There will never be a "sane economy" (ever).
But home ownership is more than just money. It's the sense of ownership, being part of the community, being able to paint the house whatever color you want, starting a garden, setting up a mini mechanic shop in your garage, tearing down the walls and making it your own
it is free and clear and it's completely yours.
has made a nice profit. But that's just icing.
I don’t think it was Magic Johnson that said that lol

None of us are that old, but let me refer you to pre-1913, and especially the early 1800's. Without central banks our economy was quite prosperous and stable. And I see that coming again soon, as the current system is completely unsustainable.

I'd broaden this to land ownership, homes are depreciating money pits. I've literally done, or been able to do almost all of those things as a renter, especially the community part. No neighbors ...
Thanks to prop 13, my property taxes are negligible
But if you're an astute smart investor, it makes no sense to rent.

@porkchopexpress I think we should repost it. I met her and am pretty sure she would have found it amusing.

I didn't realize a woman was murdered here. That's an awful thing. I, like all people, have considered murder, but never seriously. Just lesson learned, move on.
