Three months into this war, Ukraine is ravaged. Russia controls major parts of E. Ukraine. Russia's oil profits are higher than ever. Ruble is strong. Much of the world rejected US/NATO policy. Billions in US funds: gone, who knows where. Untraced weapons are flooding the region.

The problem from the start was the obligatory moralism narrative didn't help decipher what policies would and wouldn't work. And that was as intended: there was so much to debate and question about US policy, but it was barred. Anyone who tried was maligned as a Russian stooge.

Anyone who suggested the sanctions regime would cause this was immediately dismissed as a Kremlin apologist or asset -- true for any questioning of the instant US/NATO consensus on this war.

This is what always happens with sanctions. These tactics were designed to quash debate:

NEW: Some Biden officials privately express concern that rather than dissuade the Kremlin as intended, US sanctions have instead exacerbated inflation, worsened food insecurity and punished ordinary Russians more than Putin or his allies

You mean, the grain that they STOLE and ARE STEALING from Ukraine, right? Is this the grain to which you refer?

Maybe. I'm just pointing out that Russia may be sending grain to Europe this year. If Europe just stated plainly "Ukraine will NOT join NATO" none of this stupid shit would be happening. Russia hasn't even taken their gloves off yet. They might let parts of Europe to literally freeze to death in about 4 months.

mostly reader says

When you say "sending" you actually mean "SELLING", right? Is this what you mean?

Just being clear for the benefit of those vulnerable to "word-thinking".

See, you should work harder on your definitions. As of now, they are very, VERY misleading.

I mean Europe may be even MORE dependent on Russia after this stupid fucking war that could have been trivially avoided. Russia has been trying to negotiate with Europe for fucking years, and I suspect they are finally fed up talking to a bunch of assholes that treat Russian diplomats like a baby treats a diaper.

Did you notice no more stories lately of "Russian atrocities in Ukraine?" They all turned out to be fakes or lies. Even Bucha -- appears to have been masterminded by the Brits!

But you probably didn't notice that US and NATO supplied howitzers have been bombing civilian targets in Donestsk for the past week or so. Yesterday they hit a maternity hospital. Shocking! War Crime! No -- SILENCE. That's because the Western mass media is ignoring it.

This is how the maternity hospital in Donetsk, which was shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine yesterday, looks like now.

Yeah, I guess that's the thing about our noble military. Russians are preserving infrastructure and providing humanitarian corridors, while we concentrate on bombing the innocent civilians for false flag optics.

Where is the proof? Notice how the picture has nothing in it except some pieces of broken concrete, making identifying the location impossible. Such an egregious war crime and no videos and one picture which could be taken anywhere in the world, including Syria or Detroit ? What exactly prevents them from filiming hours and hours of video and terrabytes of HD pictures from every angle like these pesky Ukie did when Ruscists bombed their maternity ward in Mariupol? Reminds me of that "hanged pregnant woman" video which somehow got lost by the great independent journalist with an impeccable integrity and of which only one blurry screengrab is paraded around - typical sloppy Ruscist bullshit aimed at gullible mouthbreathers. At least when Globohomo Nazi Joo Clown makes his fakes - it's in HD, shot from many angles, with vibrant colors, exact geolocation and dozens of very persuasive crisis actors showing real emotions better than any Hollywood star ever could.

And where's the proof of NATO shells hitting it? If they somehow identified the projectiles as 155mm NATO, why not show their homework to the world? Let me guess: the dog ate it?

Yeah, right. Let's read what Lavrov has to say about it, shall we?

Here you go, from his recent interview to the BBC:

He then accused the BBC of not uncovering the truth of what had been happening to civilians in separatist-held areas of eastern Ukraine, "when civilians were being bombed by Kyiv's troops for eight years".

I stressed that over the course of six years, the BBC had many times contacted the leadership in the separatist-run areas asking for permission to go and see what was happening. We were refused entry every single time.

Russia has accused Ukraine of genocide. However, in 2021, eight civilians were killed in the rebel-held areas, according to self-proclaimed pro-Russian "officials", and seven the year before. While every death was a tragedy, I said, that did not constitute a genocide.

I suggested that if genocide really had taken place, then the Luhansk and Donetsk separatists would have been interested in us going there. Why were we not let in, I asked.

"I don't know," said Mr Lavrov.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-61825525

Notice how he does not refute the "rebels" own data on civvies killed during preceding 2 years which was 15 in TOTAL. Before Putin's coming out on the real goals of the war (land grab a-la Peter the Great, in case you didn't follow) the supposed "constant shelling of civilians by the Ukrainian army" was cited as one of the main reasons for it. And turned out to be a pile of bullshit according to the data provided by the "rebels" themselves.

Notice how he does not refute the fact that they don't allow Western media to go and see the "evidence" of the supposed "genocide" and doesn't answer why this is happening? All the usually sharp-tongued Lavrov has to say is "I don't know".

Alleged Russian IFV is hit, meaning that the squad inside it now has to walk like Infantry, not ride like Mechanized Infantry.

Meanwhile AFU casualties are 500+ per day:

Mr Podolyak's suggestion that 100 to 200 Ukrainian soldiers are dying each day is higher than previous estimates. On Thursday, Ukraine's Defence Minister, Oleksii Reznikov, said Ukraine was losing 100 soldiers a day, and 500 more were injured.

The differing casualty figures are a sign of how difficult it is to get precise information from the battlefield.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-61742736

Since you can safely quadruple the number of KIA as WIA to get total casualties. Maybe a bit more to account for MIA , AWOL, and POW.

Far from condemning this behavior, or insisting that Kiev hits the brakes on the fascist behavior, the West continues to embrace the Ukrainian regime as the Current Thing.

Weapons and money continue to flow into the country, and high-ranking western officials, including famous celebrities, continue to align themselves with the troubled government there.

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Hollywood celebrity Ben Stiller and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland have visited Ukraine, which we are told is in a day to day fight for its very survival. None were wearing protective gear in an apparent war zone.

Four months into Russia’s Ukraine offensive, President Vladimir Putin conducted his second purge of its high command. Gen. Sergei Vladimirovich Surovkin was moved from the top job in Russia’s air and missile forces to the leadership of the Ukraine command after the sacking of Gen. Aleksander Dubrinikov.

Oil
Is
A
Fungible
Commodity

The ONLY THING THIS WILL DO is drive energy prices up. This won't hurt RUSSIA which is ENTIRELY ENERGY INDEPENDENT, like the United States was, up until Joe Biden took office.

Jesus. If Russian energy goes offline, Russia will stop exporting oil to India and China, this means India and China will then compete (more) with Europe and the United States for energy.

A LOT Of Russian oil production will have to be destroyed before RUSSIA is harmed.

EVERYTHING that was claimed by our bullshit propaganda media that Trump was going to do, is going on now. Congratulations. This is the establishment MORONS that we have in charge. Enjoy.

You're celebrating the fucking over of yourself.

Why would you have to ban a pro-Russian party in Ukraine, if the Ukrainians, in a majority, are in favor of the Ukrainian war effort against Russia?

MAYBE, most Ukrainians are AGAINST this stupid fucking war. But hard to tell. I do know that it's mandatory for all men of fighting age to fight. They have conscription for a military effort that appears to be a hopeless cause. They're going to die, and it won't change the outcome. It MIGHT reduce the power of the Russian military, but that's it, and if the US and Russia get in a tangle, it won't matter, because it will be a nuclear exchange.

What's funny is that people think it's a sign of weakness when people are fired for not doing a good enough job.

Nobody in the US government is EVER fired, no matter how much they fuck up.

What's that a picture of? Post WWII Dresden after the Allies bombed it? Are you suggesting this is a modern picture, taken in 2022? What's wrong with an authentic picture?

If you wanted to make it more believable, you should have shown some photographs of maybe Bosnia or Serbia - although those are kind of old. Parts of Libya would have been convincing - maybe even Syria or Lebanon.

I'll give you a hint: countries that banned the Nazi party during WW2 didn't do it because majority in those countries supported Germany. You can scrape up the remaining grey cells to answer your own misguided question.

@Ceffer I see you've been dumpster diving again. Just so you know: the snapshot that you attached quotes Mizintsev. Google him (or duckduckgo). He's the piece of shit who bombed the theater in Mariupol. You know, the one that was double-purposed as a shelter. He's the piece of shit who's done the same to the maternity hospital in there. He's the piece of shit who first made his bones by committing atrocities in Syria (i.e. Aleppo) But what can be more reputable than Hague material who now goes out of his way to shift the blame, amiright?

What's illogical about what I stated?

Again, just saying I'm wrong doesn't explain how I'm wrong. I MIGHT be wrong, and if I am, I don't currently understand how I'm wrong, so I need to explained to me in order for me to reconsider my position.

What countries did? The United States didn't have a Nazi party until 1959.

You don't have to censor or ban anything, if they are wrong. You just explain how they are wrong.

Censorship in the United States today is being done to protect the radical left which are basically communists today. Censorship was imposed in the early 2000's to protect the far right, which was toying with being fascists - that's why we have the Patriot Act and "Homeland" Security, and why 5 years of comments on Yahoo! under news stories about the Iraq War "mistake" were all deleted. Because it was "a mistake" despite millions of posts explaining the situation.
