Doesn't Dorsey already have his hands full at Square: We invested our money to grow the company, which every single company out there does. We chose not to focus on profit in order to focus on growth. It still think Square could be the first one to go over the cliff... YMMV.
They have engaged in ridiculous censorship akin to the likes of the usual suspect social justice wankers. You can get banned just because somebody reports that you disagree with their opinion. They will likely stay around for a while (no big tweeting competitors have emerged yet) but have a hard time staying relevant.
I noticed that last night. At that time, I was able to use nitter.net , but I've been unable to find a working nitter instance today. Wonder if they're blocking nitter or if nitter collapsed due to traffic overload...
I’m Black and I don’t need Affirmative Action to succeed!
Oh, but you do. Don't you realize you're an inferior creature that needs the kind gentle guiding hand of your superiors to do well? You're oppressed by everybody!!
Also, my family used to make maple syrup for commercial production. I wonder if I could hook you up with a co-opt? Excess syrup is combined and bottled, but it's generally not "the best". Also, Maple Syrup changes from year to year and from location to location, like wine. The minerals in the soil, and the conditions of the thaw effect flavor.
You probably wouldn't want to bottle it yourself, you have to heat it to near boiling, although I don't know the temperature now. It's like 200F, and it's grueling work, trust me, I did it for over a decade. Part of the flavor the syrup is that is is partially caramelized. Some guy at some event had the great idea of boiling it in a vacuum chamber (i.e. avoiding heating it at all), and demonstrated what he produced. It tasted like simple syrup, basically no flavor other than sweetness. It wasn't "light amber" is was "no amber". There is an art to making the stuff.
It would be interesting to know exactly how they are doing the blocking.
Oh, you know. You block google from searching this site. All they are doing is putting conditions on the search. You need a cookie to see anything, and if you don't have a valid one, it won't show you.
My prediction is this will be a short lived experiment. This will be used to increase the user count, but it will end after a point.
BTW - sign up is a bitch. It took 1/2 an hour. I went through 3 tests to verify I was "human" and the tests are slowed down purposely, so once you answer one question, you wait for another - and the tests... It's not exactly clear what they want you to do initially.
You can sign up with a mailinator account - try it.
That's every single IP that has connected to my machine without a reason to connect to my machine for over 2 years, so it's bots and viruses. I run a cgi script, if it's not an IP I recognize, I log the connection. That includes every search engine, to discriminate between different ones, that will take time.
There is nothing at the root level of my domain, so if somebody is connecting to it, they shouldn't be.
How did they even find your IP? Just scanning them all?
Everybody is on a list once you have a website name, even dynamic names. I record what website name they used, and if they used an IP only, I record that as well.
If you look for "address" in the files, you can see what they were searching for. If you want, I can zip up the whole mess and give it to you.
IP addresses that only have a single entry, most likely spam bots - IP addresses with many entries, likely web crawlers. Every time I'm searched, I record it, so the larger the file, the more likely it's a search engine.
I think he just wanted more logged in users because they are more valuable to advertisers and to the CIA/FBI/NSA. I know that they still infest Twitter.
So he makes the site require login for a while, people log in, then he drops it, but most people will stay logged in.
Twitter is still posting all-time records for user-seconds of engagement. Only "woke" companies aren't advertising, and they can't afford to not be in the Marketing game for long.

I've said this a few times, but this web browser just blocks all advertisements:
A lot of propaganda is botspeak from programmed AI. You can tell because it is almost always quotidian, illogical and uses a lot of stock phrases. It also sometimes contradicts the message the propaganda is intended to promulgate because its a robot and doesn't givee fuckee.

Shit Neighborhood with hip garages.

I'd love to get fired with more than a million shares at $35 per share...
I do not feel sorry for the guy.

Platformer reports that Twitter is working on plans to force users to share their data.
Users' locations and phone numbers could also be sold to advertisers by Twitter.
You might be able to opt out by paying $8, but Apple says you can't force users to make this choice.

Can anyone not logged in view this, for example?

If you think black people cant succeed in a merit based system then you are racist.
I’m a former foster kid and I created a successful pancake company called http://cousints.com/ because of hard work!
I can't.
I think this is a foolish decision, because now you can't embed video. Well, that site is dead to me.

Have fun, it's an entirely throwaway account. You can lock me out of it if you want and take it over if you like, just don't.

Lol, this is great! Thanks @richwicks
I like this guy!

I thought I did, but Google does not respect robots.txt and was indexing patrick.net anyway!
I'll write a post about that:

Block via IP - want a list?
See this: https://samoyed.dynu.net/misses/

Very useful for blocking the donation nagware parts of wikipedia, for example.
Best part is the comments. Only possible with the new Twitter. Before, all these folks would have had their accounts suspended or even banned.
Temporary? Still ongoing.
