In Malaysia pedestrians accidentally struck on a roadway by a motorist is a rare occurrence if never happens. If it does it's always the clueless law breaking pedestrians fault. The only time it's not, is if it were an intentional strike, at which the motorist left the blacktop to intentionally run them over.

The impetus to safely cross the street is purely on the pedestrians. They aren't allowed to wander, dawttle, take their time, or assume the motorist sees them. You can only cross at designated cross walks, that even goes for rural roads. You can get a ticket for walking on the street, or crossing at a random spot.

I wish we were more like that. I do remember when J Walking was a serious thing, you didn't hear about many pedestrian strikes then. It was just as serious as a motorist moving violation that required paying the fine or going to court.

The El Nino is supposedly coming this winter and every article about its effects on CA says that it's impossible to predict whether there will be more rain, less rain or the average amount of rain....

But they know for sure that Manhattan will be 3 ft unddrwater by 2015....

You missed it by 15 years, it was supposed to be 2000. Was starting to figure out I was scammed by 2005, knew I was by 2010.

They may as well said that 1+1=5, at least to me. Most people don't remember the predictions - so thank god for Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth. I often get the people still onboard to watch that, from 2007, and look up all the glaciers and so on. I really should spend some time taking that entire movie apart.

5. Why does CO2 lag temperature?

Through Earth’s history, the climate has changed considerably over a wide range, from ice ages to warm periods without any ice at the poles. These climate variations had several triggering mechanisms, like variation in solar activity, Milanković cycles, volcanic activity and changes in atmospheric composition. With data from ice cores, scientists were able to recover atmospheric data from the past 400,000 years. The data from these ice cores included the annual atmospheric composition over the period of these 400,000 years, with the different concentrations of atmospheric gases. After analyzing the data, a correlation between CO2 and temperature can be reconstructed (see figure below). However, a rise in CO2 did not precede a rise in temperature but is lagging behind the temperature curve by 200 to 1000 years. At the first glance, the temperature seems to be the driving factor causing the increase in CO2 concentration, which is contrary to the common point of view that CO2 drives global warming.

CO2 lags temperature because there are teratatons of carbon present in the oceans in the form of carbonates. Think Coca-cola or beer where the warmer it gets, the more it fizzes, outgassing CO2. As the oceans warm, they release CO2 into the atmosphere.

This is "scientific" fraud on the highest level.
