All of the liberals I know have some mental or substance issues; unless they have government jobs/pensions and they're liberal because they know which party keeps their pensions rich.

That's my mom. It's annoying. We get along just fine, but I give her shit all the time. She'll have a beer and smokes 2-3 cigs a day. Now starting edibles, but she's fine. Wouldn't classify her habits as substance abuse. She does have the pension though.
Ultimately when politics come up I know for a fact I'm not going to convince anyone to change. Even if you have facts with politics, they're not going to listen. That's why I'm an independent. I'm a chameleon. Right now the left is 100% out of their mind. If they change, I'd be open to voting for some. I can't vote for crazy people at this current moment.
