I think you have to have nads to love Hemingway.

Jamie, as that one hit wonder New Zealand bands says, "how bizarre, how bizarre".

Papa rocks.

749   surfer-x   2005 Oct 29, 12:44pm

jack, I don't know. Our internet was down last week and we have Vonage, so no internet, no phone. I had our calls forwarded to work and when our internet was fixed on friday I logged on to Vonage and saw the Pismo call. If the person left a message, it was at work and I have to wait to Monday to check. Thank you for asking though, and thank you for thinking of the Fuchs. I love that cat so fucking much it's crazy. And I desperately need him back. Hope you have a good weekend.

Thanks jack, I think that we have to realize that cats are not like dogs, cats are wild animals that live with us, dogs are domesticated. Cats will split for a while and explore their "wild side". I don't feel he is hurt or even worse dead, I do "feel" that he is alive and just out fucking around. The mailman said there are coyotes here, but the Fuchs is 18lbs and about 2.5ft long head to tail, he's truly a house tiger. I think he could hold his own. He'll come back, and then he's not going outside ever again.

Did hear about a cat named Emily on the today Show, she made it from Wisconsin to the south of France. Maybe Fuchs is there too.

Wow. Did she enter France legally? Or was she undocumented? :)

Cats do get lost from time to time but they do come back after a while. Fuchs may be knocking on your door tonight, Surfer-X.

753   surfer-x   2005 Oct 29, 3:31pm

It's love and darkness,
And my sidearm.

Here we are now going to the north side

754   surfer-x   2005 Oct 29, 3:35pm

I asked him if he knew what time he had.
He said he wasn't sure, maybe a quarter past.
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's!
I peered in his eyes as we stood in line just to have a look,
But the pages I found looked like an unbound coloring book.

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's!
It's not reality, just someone else's sentimentality...
It won't work for you...

Baby boomers selling you rumors of their history,
Forcing youth away from the truth of what's real today.
The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's!
Stadium minds with stadium lies gotta make you laugh.
Garbage vendors against true defenders of the craft.

The kids of today should defend themselves against the 70's!
It's not reality, just someone else's sentimentality...
Look what it did to us...

"Jamie, as that one hit wonder New Zealand bands says, “how bizarre, how bizarre”."

Huh?

I agree with Newsfreak. His short stories are fine. The one's I've read are great examples of minimalism. But his subject-matter is such that it generally appeals much more to men. He writes from a very male perspective, about subjects that tend to resonate with men more than women.

That's all I'm sayin.'

756   Jamie   2005 Oct 30, 7:07am

"one more poem, oh

Jack will turn homo

Stanman weeps"

Hurry, Jack, go drink some Bud Light and stare at your car engine for a while before it's too late!

757   Jamie   2005 Oct 30, 12:16pm

"You never told me why you were “shhhush-ing” me and SactoQT "

I was doing that every time I said something that might have been interpreted the *wrong* way, as my comments so often are (insert put-upon tone here). So, "hush," as in, don't even bother saying it, I know what you're thinking.

758   SQT15   2005 Oct 31, 3:00am

Sorry Jack, no great ruler stories. My husband's costume was the hit of the party. Guy comes dressed as a catholic schoolgirl, kind of gets everyone's attention. Plus, he has really great legs. ;)

759   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:12am

Okay, so it is possible...

760   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:12am

we could hit...

tonight?

You renegade poets are missing out on new opportunities in poetic form. Don't be restricted by this single little white text box. Think outside the box. Think multiple text boxes!

Think poems that take 5 posts to complete.

765   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:15am

"Can of Bud Light."

Just whatever you do, don't actually *drink* that, that...carbonated urine. It's just for pretend.

766   SQT15   2005 Oct 31, 3:16am

Poetry, Urk. I don't do poetry. Or at least I haven't tried. Hmmmm. Must think.

NEED 2000 posts!

767   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:16am

"…and don’t take that tone with me young lady."

Ooh, Jack's getting all stern and stuff.

768   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:17am

"For being the diabolical madwoman that she in fact is. "

Bwaahahahahahaaaaa!

769   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:17am

My Halloween greeting:

Boo!

770   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 3:18am

There. Only 600 more posts to go.

Not much of a rhyme, but it added significantly to the thread count which is all that really matters.

We all know the threads with the highest thread counts have maximum quality.

779   SQT15   2005 Oct 31, 4:58am

Did see a woman who dressed as a Studio 54 coke whore, she was going to a Halloween wedding. Different!

Lol
Creative costume.

My sugar rush of choice is Twix. Anything with chocolate and a cookie crunch and I am a happy camper.

780   HARM   2005 Oct 31, 5:03am

Ok, please bear with me, people --I've been gone for a long time.
What's the deal with this 'SPHUH' thing? How/why did a thread named 'Huh?' end up with 1400+ posts in less than 2 weeks. And what's the deal with this Surfer-x/ptiemann Nazi flame war?

781   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 5:07am

LOL, Harm, welcome back! I believe SPHUH is what happens when you get too many demented minds in one place. Well, no, I take that back. I'm blaming it all on Jack.

Surfer-X is stressed out and depressed due to his missing cat. I don't know how that manifested itself as a Nazi flame war, but I'm sure it's because of Mr. Fuchs. We're all trying to tread carefully. Like cats, I guess you could say.

782   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 5:08am

Go home Mr Fuchs!

783   HARM   2005 Oct 31, 5:09am

Thanks, Jamie. Looks like I missed out on the most prolific blog month ever. I expected some new threads and a fair amount of activity, but this is just amazing --I've counted at least 22 threads since I left for New Zealand and thousands of posts.

I’m so out of touch with this blog now, I feel like I just stepped out of a time warp.

Maybe we've all misbehaved because HARM was gone? Maybe he has become the "father figure" here on the blog, and while he was away, we played.

Poor HARM, coming home from his wonderful vacation to find that we've been partying for a month straight. Someone shot out the windows, there's a goat in the bathtub, the cat's missing, skinheads have taken over one room of the house, the sheets have weird stains on them, empty cans of Bud Light are littering the floor, the liquor cabinet has been emptied, and there's bean dip EVERYWHERE.

786   HARM   2005 Oct 31, 5:19am

I also posted this under the "New Thread" thread, but it looks like this one is getting more play, so here ya go:

Btw, while I was in NZ, I occasinally check the RE section in the local papers (just couldn’t resist). In general, housing there is NOT much cheaper than CA, even considering the currency exchange rate, though due to the lower population density it’s still possible to find relatively affordable beachfront property outside of town on both islands.

Interesting side note: in Queenstown the locals were complaining about foreign speculators coming in buying up property like crazy, which is driving up prices for them. I give you one guess as to where most of these “foreigners” are from  .

787   Jamie   2005 Oct 31, 5:20am

Maybe we should compile a "Best of" post for HARM, a sort of October in review post that will sort through the bean dip and find the highlights of the month that he simply can't go forward without knowing.
