the IRS has systems programs which will pick out addresses and compare to social security numbers and shot out a rejection

This may not be a contradiction, but simply poor wording
1. Through nov. Does that mean sales only in november, sales from the start of this year or sales from when the tax credit started? The article does not specify. Depending upon what the writer intended this could make the figures add up differently.
2. Did all people who claim the credit qualify and receive the credit?
I think the writer just needs to be more clear
After Reading the LA Times article about the push to extend and expand the 8,000 tax credit, I was struck by a curious apparent math contradiction. According to the IRS, 1.4 million people have claimed the credit, but it is anticipated 375,000 sales willuse the credit through nov of this year.
Now math was never my best subject, but can someone explain how 1.025 million people can claim this credit and not actually use it to buy a house?
