Would you like other data? Do you disagree with the findings?

The US price/rent ratio is 10.42

Would you like other data? Do you disagree with the findings?

The findings are based only on the median price of 2BR apartments/townhomes/condos on their site. That's not a disagreement with their data, but a disagreement with their conclusion that "it is cheaper to buy a home rather than rent one", and with their methodology.

Beyond that, inman and trulia are home ownership puffery outlets. You can find better data if you're not looking through your bullish blinders.

http://www.deptofnumbers.com/affordability/

Not many cities within the inman/trulia report's top ten have crossed the rent/own break-even threshold, let alone 72 percent of 50.

I'm not a "birther" (like Clarence), but I find it interesting that Trump recently stated that Obama has spent over $2 million in legal fees to fight the "birther" thingy. The Donald asked the question: "if there is nothing there, why would you spend $2 million?" Very interesting question.

//// but I find it interesting that Trump recently stated that Obama has spent over $2 million in legal fees to fight the “birther” thingy. The Donald asked the question: .... Very interesting question.

Man Glenn Beck has certainly left his mark on this debate. Your assumed parody sounds remarkably like a favorite Birther tactic to appear reasonable, "Even though I've been talking about this for an hour now, it's really a non-issue. But we should all keep asking questions...."

I'm definitely not saying that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. But isn't it INTERESTING how much energy he spends denying it. Why doesn't he just PROVE where he was for every second of 1990? It is a very interesting QUESTION.

6210   klarek   2011 Apr 7, 2:07am

Inman's heading:

Cheaper to buy than to rent in 72% of largest U.S. cities

and opening paragraph:

Despite the rising number of renters across the country, it is cheaper to buy a home rather than rent one in 72 percent of the 50 largest cities in the U.S., according to an index released by real estate search and marketing site Trulia.

For emphasis:

—–
Trulia’s rent vs. buy index compares the median list price with the median rent on two-bedroom apartments, condominiums and townhomes listed on Trulia.com as of Jan. 10, 2011.
—–

You have no objections to the lies flung around by two sites with a reputation of bullshit propaganda, but are still holding the impetus on me to prove them wrong after I already did. Unbelievable.

6211   Vicente   2011 Apr 7, 2:13am

OMG reminds me of Talk Soup. Man what a fake smile though.

"Bristol says if even one girl is prevented from getting pregnant, I will feel a sense of accomplishment."

Not a very good bang for the buck.

I think I could achieve much better results with $262K. I would spend the first $100K on a kickass party with a band and everything. Condoms will be passed out of course.

Then I'd spend the other $162K on sex education including hospital tours where all the youngsters have to watch a live birth. Although this might not be as much a deterrent as you think. Some girls get so misty-eyed over babies that even seeing all the bloody reality is washed away by LOOK AT THE BABY! Might work a bit better for boys. Perhaps show them "here's your job at the gas station, where you will spend your youth paying for knocking her up".

6212   MAGA   2011 Apr 7, 3:43am

What ever happened to Levi? I remember seeing him up on stage at the GOP Convention. Senator McCain should have had a military recruter talk with this guy. Levi could have joined the Army, married Bristol, and mother and child would have been taken care of.

Seems to me that Levi made some statements about being a bad ass red neck. Fighting in Afghanistan would given him an outlet.

Glen Beck also spent lots of money (presumably in the millions) trying to silence this question. He even went crying to un-American international courts. And get this poor Beck lost the court battle…

…Hmmm… now I am not saying that he raped and murder that girl in 1990 (he probably did not), but he refuses to answer the question, then looses the court case trying to silence the question…

…Hmmm… makes the question more interesting.

Ok first, this thread is driving me nuts... bunch of little old ladies bickering about the real color of apples and oranges... jeesh.

Klarek, Im not sure where you live, but in Walnut Creek, (Bay area) I just checked CL and saw the following:
3 bedroom rentals range: 1450-6100
2 bedroom rentals range: 1000-1900

The point being, especially in the bay area, these micro climates in prices have NO reflect on prices outside of these areas. The data is absolutely mind boggling to come up with any one conclusion. Some house around the corner from me just sold for $800k, I see they are doing some renovations already assuming kitchen and some others items ($100k). People have the money for these places, they are not going away. I have been hearing and reading for the past 2+ years... its crappy, going down hill, bottom is coming..... I have yet to see anything but a flat line at least in my "micro climate" of real estate. And I only pay attention to whats in my immediate area. I could care less about Brentwood and Milpitas, San Mateo, etc. These have no real effect on my house value. (at least what I have seen to make me any more worried)

6219   Huntington Moneyworth III, Esq   2011 Apr 7, 4:51am

He should make a new show: "Apprentice: Hawaiian PI". Imagine all of these doofus MBAs running around the Hawaiian government archives on missiions to "prove" Obama isn't American. The show would be fucking hilarious!

Up the antics and do a "Celebrity Apprentice" version. Have Dog The Bounty Hunter lead a group of burnout celebrities around Hawaii trying to dig up dirt on the President. The ideal cast:

Charlie Sheen - obligatory drug addict
The Koran burning Florida Pastor - to prove Obama is a Muslim and to burn the birth certificate!
Tom DeLay - for the dancing competition!
Orly Taitz - the Birther Queen herself!
Big Bird - famous Muppet Birther!
Stephen Colbert
Joe Farah - Editor of WorldNetDaily and mustachioed conspiracy theorist extraordinairre!

Because it takes a vote of four SCs to hear the case and they won’t. It will be a big mess that they would rather not deal with, as both Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia have said publicly.

Thanks that makes perfect sense. Oh… wait… no, that is total bullshit.

Why am i not surprised that Shirk is in to the whole teabag thing ? Fricken deviant.

Or that the teabaggers are pulling this bait and switch. They get elected supposedly to fight spending (by the most out of touch voters (such as shirk) that have no clue why interest rates are still close to zero after all the stimulus that has occurred).

And then they turn around and hold the budget hostage to their extremely unpopular social agenda.

6232   kimboslice   2011 Apr 7, 12:06pm

I do not agree with cutting funding for Planned Parenthood. I and others want government out of our lives and off our wallets, but do not object to women having access to inexpensive health care. Teabagging is a gay male sex act, so the people who call those who attended Tea Party meetings "teabaggers" are wrong. The gays I know would never go to a Tea Party. The EPA should stop over-stepping its authority, so if it needs its wings to be clipped, fine.

6233   kimboslice   2011 Apr 7, 12:13pm

What is mysterious is why did not Obama and the Democrats pass a budget last year before the new Republican majority house of representatives was seated? Some suspicious people may conclude that Obama cynically planned this showdown after the disastrous election in November gave him a "shellacking" by deliberately not having a budget.

Yeah, because 4 SCs were needed to decided whether the case would be heard. Which didn’t happen in all those cases — that is what ‘U.S. Supreme Court declined, without comment, to hear the case’ means. You did know that right, Genius? So what is my ‘bullshit’ exactly?

Oh wait… now I see… thanks for pointing that out… my bad…

Wait no, on second thought… Still Bullshit.

Each of your fingers must be a little bull's backside, and you are making quite a mess of your keyboard.

It is bullshit to misrepresent facts and/or distort facts.

Correct me if I am wrong but, your insinuation is that, while there may be merit to the suits, the Supreme Court does not want to hear them because it is not something they want to “deal with.”

And that sir, is… um… cough… bullshit.

…hmmm, I remember another messy issue of who was the President that the SC had not problem ruling on. The day the SC will not listen to a case because it is too messy and difficult is the day we need a new panel of justices.

Oh, so 3 out of the 12 cases the SC “declined, without comment, to hear the case.”
I am sure that the SC declines to comment on cases all the time for all sorts of reasons, but perhaps we can do some sleuthing and look at the other 9 cases for a clue.

…Hmmm… I am seeing words like: dismissed and declined (after hearing the argument), moot, lacked standing, etc…

If I have misrepresented your insinuation and you agree that all 12 cases have been rejected because they are baseless and without merit, them my apologies.

Until then I call shenanigans on you.
