Exactly. Besides the bank and the tax man, you have just added one more entity that can kick you out on the street.
I suspect People that live in HOA neighborhoods, need Institution in their life. If they were poor, I'm sure they would seek out a life of imprisonment.
I had lots of experience dealing with HOA and the people that live in those communities. Ironically I found only a few percent, dreaded the decision and rued the day they moved there. The majority have a "C'est la vie." attitude about it. At my expense, as I was there to do carpet or tile, and the HOA said I couldn't because the home owner didn't clear it with them first.
as a general rule HOA residents like uniformity and wish the world was like that. but they are usuallyl too good for the ways of the world. Noses up, anyone?

I'm confused by people giving up the "you can do whatever you want with your house" aspect of buying.
