Unemployment wasn't hovering over 8%, the economy roared during most of Bush's term.
That's like saying the Titanic was going full speed ahead until it hit an iceberg.

Poll: More Trust Obama than Romney on Jobs
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/poll-more-trust-obama-romney-jobs_652176.html
Slightly more Americans trust Barack Obama than Mitt Romney on the issue of job creation, a new poll from Rasmussen shows. Forty-seven percent of those polled said they trust Obama more on job creation, compared to 45 percent who say they trust Romney more.
That can't be comforting news to the Romney campaign, which has made job creation and Obama's bad record on the economy the central focus of the Massachusetts Republican's run for the White House. Consider a recent Romney advertisement airing in Florida, a critical swing-state. The ad hammers President Obama for Florida's 8.6 percent unemployment and reminds viewers that foreclosures in the Sunshine State are at record highs.
CNN ORC Poll 9/11

Dear Politifact,
Quit posting facts. They don't fit the conservative talking points.

This "roaring" was all fake - people were taking money out of their homes on that so called bubble equity and were spending it at shopping malls, vacations and various consumer goods. We all saw what happened in the end.
obama in the lead? I better go buy a hammer and sickle before the government steals whats left of my money, then get ready to lower my standard of living to the party approved level.
Big Brother Is Watching.

No, the Koch brothers are watching!
Weeks Before Election Day, Early Voting Kicks Off
Idaho and South Dakota can begin early voting on Sept. 21, followed later in the month by Vermont, Iowa and Wyoming. Contested states such as Ohio begin early voting Oct. 2 and Florida on Oct. 27. Most states also allow voting by absentee ballot, provided voters offer an excuse, and those ballots become available beginning this month.
Seems as though the earliest voting begins Sept 21

Obama with a 3.1pt avg lead
Fox Poll has Obama +5
CNN has Obama +6
Rasmussen has Romney +2
That ad is the most pathetic stretch I've seen yet. Obviously intended for the lie seeking base, or otherwise ignorant voters who don't know:
What's worse ?
The kind of politicians that gets you into an economic crisis and the worst economic state we've seen in 70 years, and then obstructs some of the solutions to the crisis because that might make an opposing politician successful ?
or
THe type of politician who doesn't get us out (fast enough) of a financial crisis caused by a deflating secular credit and real estate bubble, and who has no cooperation and only obstruction from the most far right and crazy right wing congress we've ever seen.
Yes, yes, I know. There were several weeks back in '09 when Obama actually had control of the house and senate.
By the way....on the thread topic, a snapshot of what the money thinks of Romney's chances. See the red graph.

It seems as though every Republican who runs for office has the same mantra: If you elect Republicans, they will cut government spending and increase private sector jobs. The problem is that it just isn’t true. A few days ago, I provided the evidence which proves that Republicans are much bigger government spenders than Democrats. (see: http://www.politicalmontana.com/?p=309 ).
The same is true for private sector jobs. Many more private sector jobs are created when Democrats are in power. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-data-show-democrats-are-better-at-creating-private-sector-jobs-2012-8. This article explains that the Bureau of Labor Statistics compiles these historical numbers and the data clearly shows Democrats are better for private job creation. An illustrative graph is below:
Private-sector jobs grew far more under Democratic than Republican presidents, 1961-2012
The presidents who averaged the most jobs created per month were Bill Clinton, at 217,000; Jimmy Carter, at 188,000; and Ronald Reagan, at 153,000. That's right. Jimmy Carter beat Ronald Reagan. The only president to preside over a cumulative loss of private-sector jobs was, of course, George W. Bush.
