I see the Realtor has disabled comments on her video. Too bad. I have a comment or two for her.
She thinks it's fun to see NOBE houses. $400K is afordable?
Thanks but no thanks.
I wish these Realtors would stop breeding.

Make sure you can trust your Realtor? How??
NOBE is a scheme. A group in the "hood" got together to market it and promote it as a hip place. So, to make it work, they hired the lowest of the low to brainwash you. "if you want to be in a hip place, live here".
Get your Sprout panini and a Chai Latte. Oh... did I say the "Painted housing" is affordable for all you young professionals.
Same shit going on in chicago. a good way to turn a questionable part of town around.
O boy! A Starbucks on the corner = higher value for the surrounding homes.
sorry... I'm rambling... I'm not that hip... I'm out.
Yup, that area is still 'hood'. But it's a matter of time when all of north Oakland and South Berkeley becomes one big gentrified hood. Rockridge, Elmwood and Temescal are just too pricey now without any signs of declining. NOBE is just the next frontier in oakland for yuppies and hipsters to play around in.
She is telling the truth NOBE has a cool vibe. Lumping Berkeley, Emeryville and North Oakland into the same price point is wishful thinking...

Even trying to brand just North Oakland together is ridiculous. On one end you get San Pablo avenue with it's soiled doves, and at the other end the quaint boutique shops of Rockridge and Piedmont Avenue.
This place has pockets of gentrification, but to me there really isn't anything charming about it. It's really close to freeway and industrial pollution. I wonder how great the soil quality is for all the coming urban farming.
I have a friend who lives in a lovely little Victorian, but her neighbors hang out in long white t-shirts doing drug deals, while her hipster friends drunk-ride bicycles in the dark through traffic from hipster bar to hipster bar.
This is why Realtors are worth their 6% commission:
That was painful to watch.
And presumably the "creator" of that mess even had to pay something out to Doris Day, since she's the one performing and is apparently still alive. The song itself might be in the public domain, but I can't imagine Day's performance of it is. But, then again, I didn't see anything about "permissions granted" or whatever at the end of the video, either. Hmmm....
Yeah, I know some huge percentage of the crap on Youtube is probably in violation of some copyright law or other, but typically the people doing the posting aren't doing it trying to make a profit. Which I guess means beans under the law but somehow does strike me personally as somehow different.
I got a kick how this REALTOR® is pitching part of the East Bay as NOBE. Who came up with this? Is this brand name NOBE an invention of REALTORS®?
=====
Could be. When I was kid growing up in the western suburbs of Boston, we called the area the, umm, "western suburbs of Boston." as best I can recall. Then, out of the blue, the neologism "MetroWest" popped up, and spread like an overflowing toilet with a broken shut-off valve. The local newspaper/birdcage liner renamed itself "The MetroWest Daily News," quite a few local busnesses did as well, and when two local hospitals "merged" they became the MetroWest something or other.
I honestly don't know that REALTORS® were behind the term, but they all seemed to take to it like pigs to shit, and were what I believe a marketer would refer to as "early adopters."
FWIW, I can distinctly remember thinking that it was about the stupidest term I'd ever heard, and that it was just so ridiculous it would never catch on. Guess I"m the stupid one....the moral being that this "NOBE" business might have more staying power than a rational person might otherwise think.
