I think Europe has always been a mess, we're just more in tuned to it now, because we're becoming Europe.
Our mess here in the USA is directly attributable to the loose lending / low rate environment that existed in the early to mid part of this decade. (or is it last decade, now that we are almost into 2012?) - in one word overleverage got us into this mess, at least here in the USA.
What about the Eurozone? Did they have the similar issues - or did other factors put them in this mess they are in right now?
