A customer reached out asking for video tutorials.

We obviously have a Lindy handling this, and I was delighted to see that she sent a video.

But then I remembered we don't have a video tutorial and realized Lindy is literally fucking rickrolling our customers.

AI has reached the point of Rickrolling. Not sure if this is bad news.

Good thing they didn't go DEI with Womennonites or they would have been truly fucked. Lunch would probably have been good, though.

The original KamalaToe was short circuited by MKUltra drugs, brain damage. Hey, Biden Actor played senile for almost four years and nobody seemed to notice.

What's interesting is all the cars were associated with really good theme songs / soundtracks. It's as if these shows/movies were made by guys to appeal to other guys? Inconceivable!

Bandit the 440 Trans am with the gold fire eagle on the hood.
Probably worth more than all of those cars today.
My first job when I was a young teen. A Greek guy there had one just like it. He would go out and look the car over and rub it down, during every break.
I bet he wishes he still had it today, if he doesn't.
9133   Tenpoundbass   2024 Sep 7, 8:50am

Also missing in that picture is Bullitt the fast back Mach I GT Mustang Steve McQueen drove in the same titled movie.

I would also love the 49 Merc Sylvester Stallone drove in that movie Cobra. As I typed that, now I wonder why he didn't drive a Shelby Cobra?

My second car was a 79 gold trans am.

If I could have any movie van, I would go with the 1941 Chevy COE in Jeepers Creepers.
Though I would restore it to look more like this.

This would be nice too.

TPB this reminds me of the other famous movie vans. Scooby, Ghost busters…

9137   Tenpoundbass   2024 Sep 7, 11:04am

I never liked repurposed hearses, as hearses themselves creep me out.
But given the purpose of the Ghost Buster hearse it's the most suited choice, and the classic year adds to its comedic macabre.
The Ghost Buster mobile doesn't only create the first custom hearse worthy of a spectacle, without morbid curiosity.
It also shows the genius of the writers, that wrote it in the story. Typically the Ghost Busters would have been written as Detective gum shoe characters, driving a mid 50's 4 door sedan. They have them rambling around as ghost medics in a old school hearse.

Sorry, but I am a car geek and I have to correct here. There was no 440 in a Trans Am, the 440 was a Chrysler engine put in the Plymouth and Dodge muscle cars. The Trans Am of that era (77 and 78) has either a 403 with an automatic or a 400 with a Hurst shifter and 4 speed manual. The 403 had a "6.6 Litre" decal on the shaker hood while the 400 4 speed had a "T/A 6.6" decal. The 403 was 185 hp while the 400 was 220 hp. The "Bandit" car was the wimpier 403 automatic.

My friend got the 79 black with gold eagle as his first car, after driving in my gold one. It was a cool car.

Wope you are correct. How were those muscle cars back then so freaking fast and powerful with HP less than 250?
Today they have motors reaching 500hp, and they aren't as big. Perhaps the difference is the injectors they use today, and the dual turbo super chargers?
Were there any stock Carburetor engines from the muscle car era that had 400hp or more?

They weren't fast. In fact, in 1979 Trans Am they had an option for a 301 (4.9 litre) that was only 150 hp. 3.08 rear end. This was the era where they had to bring old V8 designs to meet new pollution laws. They did it with techniques like lowering the compression and retarding the spark, as these cars had a carburetor and a single coil, no computerized fuel injection and spark advance like today. They were also much heavier.

Not in the late 70s. You may be thinking of "69 or so with GTOs, Impala SS, Mustang Boss, and those monster Mopar beasts like Charger R/T and Road Runner. However, even that fastest time in its day Charger R/T would be beat by a 1st generation Lexus LS400 sedan.

They weren't fast.

They seemed fast because they were hard to control.

I had a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville when I was 18 years old. Hit the gas too hard and it would sit there and spin tires. I drove it off the Silverado Trail in Napa and it ended up on a driveway, bounced off a tree, went through a picket fence sideways like it was taking out a row of corn, glanced off a telephone pole, and ended up back on the road. I kept driving and I'll never forget the look of the cop on the other side of the road with his ticket book out citing someone for something. I kept driving and pulled into the back parking lot of Napa bowl and waited for dark to drive home. A newer car would have been utterly destroyed.

I rented a Ford Thunderbird on a San Diego business trip back in the mid 90's. I over cooked an exit ramp and the brakes locked up. My life flashed as I prepared to crash through the guard rails. The anti-lock brakes cycled a couple times and I was back on track.

They don't make them like they used to, and sometimes that's a good thing.
