Egyptians are scared and angry. Scared and angry people riot.
Nothing new here, really.
Just imagine if those rioters were animals. wait wait, aren't they ?
Corporations thrive on population growth.
ALL Gubmints have been dominated by corporations.
2+2=4 is an argument.
But will you argue that Corporations should be held responsible for riots.
Ten years from now riots may be a common way of life on our own streets.
Billboards will read, "GOT WATER". Milk cartons will have photos of entire families.
Please provide evidence of the relationship between population and prevalence of riots.

How much invested ? How much back ? What's the risk ?
This is an enumeration of riots that have occurred. It does not indicate riots as a function of population size.
Where are the riots in Tokyo? Shanghai?
Why were there so many riots in NYC in the past, when the population was less than a third of what it is today, but none of note in 25 years?
The idea that population will continue to explode as resources dwindle is so absurd it's amusing.

If OIL is supporting a significant percentage of the earths population, and we know that oil will no longer be available in just a few generations. What will that first population chart look like ? Will they see billions per year perish ?
Alright! A new Peak Oil chart...
At least this one is interesting. But why are we talking about a in a few generations. What happened to the 2020-2030 timeline?
But two things, first the world population acceleration, is actually on the decline, or slowing down at least. The Oil production trend really isn't following the neat trajectory that human population is.
It's more like Oil waste than Oil consumption. We're still pricing and producing Oil, like we're still consuming at 2007 levels.
All I know is pre '07 going anywhere in South Florida at anytime was a gridlock hassle. Now the streets, roads and highways are less sparse than when they were when I moved here in the 80's, when we only had a third of the development we now have.
It's obvious we need to do something about the human energy needs. We call them "Our" energy needs, like we're the only ones here, or what is there belongs to us now, and the hell with the future, we're figuring it out for them, or we'll all go bust trying.
We're not in a crisis, yet we politicize the hell out of our invented dilemma, and we never get the solution right. It's always wrought with political agendas, profit or greed. Rarely is practicality or honesty entered into the conversation.
What we have is an academic sector acting like a modern day Temple of the All Knowing Priestess. Because they have a degree, we assume they don't have agendas. These people do make a living out of applying for grants, to come up with data to scare the wholly shit out of people. It would be a shame to disappoint.
These are smart guys, you would think they would be putting their knowledge to use, to actually come up with solutions, that didn't end up in a congressional hearing about squandered funds. Instead of locking heads with their Patron's opponents rehashing the same disputed data. Locked in philosophical debate, hiding behind their graphs and charts, they created, to dismiss opposition, to write them off as uninformed.
Where's our small portable energy source, an ultra battery or a whole new concept or device that aggregates electrons from the air and coalesces them to low voltage, then runs through a series a step up transformer converts them to a stronger currents?
The drive to save Oil for the sake of conserving it for future generations, just in case, we're really taken this thing all the way to edge as far as we can possibly go. And it turns out, future generations are going to be dependent on Oil. All we can do to mitigate the inevitable is prolonging it. We can conserve, and hope eventually, maybe one day, someday, the dilemma will be solved.
It would seem to me, that if these people are so damn smart,
and know so damn much, then they would just work harder on a solution. At least spend less energy arguing over something they are so sure about.
This argument is flavor of the yesterday, let's face it today's tree huger fringe, are not your conservationists of yesterday.
At least in the 80's you could buy a "No Nukes!" or a "Save the Wales" bumper sticker and appease those guys. This new lot, propose fees, taxes, VAT, and credits, to inject a do nothing burden on people. Then they are never happy, we don't get nothing in return, and it's never enough taxation or fees. And in a time, where gas and oil consumption is actually declining. In spite of what they say. Less cars on the road, less consumers buying petroleum based products, OPEC cutting production, stock piles growing, tankers bought and sold three times over before they ever find a port, Oil production countries in turmoil, and the many other excuses for oil demand should have rose.
Our energy stays artificially inflated over what seemingly looks like Profit and Greed motivated. The initiative to actually innovate the next generation of energy, and not trying to reinvent or embellish existing solar and battery technology is just not even in the cards.
The problem wont be solved until it is. Did I mention gas went up over the week end, while Oil went down?

Riots kill 79 after a Egyptian soccer match, so what do the Egyptians do? They riot against a police station, getting a couple of more people killed. Do I see a pattern developing here? Not Happy with your Cable service? RIOT! Taxes too High? RIOT! Can't find a Job? RIOT! Monday's weather sucked cause it rained all day? RIOT!
RIOT, the perfect solution to all of Egypt's problems.
