I guess I was all for emmisions standards. Notice they did not one thing to retro-fit older cars. WHY? Emmisions standards sold "new" cars. It worked out for them. I really don't see that much of a difference. It was all of their "hell raising". That got that completed. You might not think its a gimmic to sell new cars. Don't doubt it.

Which leads me to no-fault insurance. Which leads me to many city people frozen out. That are stuck taking the bus. I met a lady once in the city. She was sobbing quietly. She had been riding the bus all day long. Trying to get too "one" job interview. Trying to feed her kids. I hate manditory insurace. With a hate that Christians reserve for the devil. I guess insurance companies "own" the road now. It worked out for them. Call it "forced commerce". A civil matter (an accident at that) becoming a criminal matter. Damage to property. It well oh so quickly swept the nation. Oh what a fucking coincidence. So the people that don't get much. Now don't have a car. Because well the insurance costs more than a car payment in many cases. More than the gas they buy sometimes more than the food if they have a large family.

I gave that lady my number. Told her to call me for her next job interview. I would take her there. She never called. I would have taken her there in a minute.

I might be stupid enough to argue with that one guy with a brand new financed Cadillac that thinks manditory insurance is ok. What I would really like to do is get ahold of all of the people that thought it would be so great to scam the entire public.

Did the insurance companies EVER think about going after the auto builders. That make metal cars that shred people into small pieces. When they make a everyday error and look the wrong way? Nope. Bad for business I guess. After all a 3000 pound hunk of metal traveling at speeds of up to 80mph. Has to be safe. It only makes sense. We aren't the "safety" people. The auto people are. 10,000 auto deaths a year prove that. How about a news report on that one Debt merchant news? Oh dear I guess its just all a case of that little accelerator pedal, getting stuck.

Inner city people take the bus in droves. Junker laws, Insurance not being able to certain places on the bus. Many things "conspire" against people that don't have much. I've picked people up at bus stops giving them rides. Most Hitchhikers are killers however. Ask any auto maker. I won't pick them up.

Ever increasing fuel "efficiency" standards require the use of lighter, and therefore less safe, cars.

I never considered that. The trucks carrying telephone poles, iron girders. I guess in some places they can only go up to 12,500 lbs. A light car vs that would not stand a chance. Auto deaths and manglings have always been of great concern to me. I had a "first cousin" my mothers cousin and and a great aunt that died in a auto acceident with my grandmother. Those were both some time ago. I was in a hospital after being "rear ended" by a panel truck when the guy went for his cigarettes. He ducked under the dash to get them and hit me.

Like I say the odds of having an auto death in many peoples families in this land are better than not. Considering over the last 12 years averaging of course. Over 120,000 people have died in a car. Not to mention the crippled. I guess it dosen't warrent hard hitting investigative journalism. You take that 120k figure world wide and the figures might come up to 35k dead every year added up that might come close to a half a million dead in the last 12 years. Again we have no figures on the crippled.

Maybe that's why Obama signed the law requiring backup cameras: so we can see the bus just before it runs over us... ;-)

This video is called 160 fatal car wrecks. Please, please don't watch this if your squemish. There are no people in these cars. It just shows the aftermath. Its all our fault of course. We are the unsafe ones. The 3000 pound "metal rockets". Are perfectly "safe". I have always wanted the "carnage" of the auto since invented. To be shown. However that just dosen't work out well with Debt merchant news of course. The number of dead and the crippled since the invention of the auto. Selling these potential "Death Traps" to us every year. The dead and crippled over all the years must be a number thats astronomical. This is just a small, small fraction of the dead.
