I agree, I think there is a small comeback underway for US mfg. Labor and material costs are higher, but the gap is shrinking (Chinese costs up 10-15% per year, US flat). Also lead times are shorter, transportation costs lower, and (to your point) quality control is better/easier.
So I am pretty optimistic about seeing more made in USA goods, but less optimistic about a lot of mfg jobs. Most mfg is very automated these days.
Hello Patrick.netters
I would like to share my latest findings regarding "Made in USA" products.
I am a Canadian citizen
Lately I have purchased a few Made in USA products. I bought a hat and pouch by "Tactical Tailor" and a pair of New Balance shoes.
The quality of materials and the sewing quality are far superior to their Chinese counterparts. And the price? The same or less to the Chinese stuff. I know my sewing, and believe me, this is the real deal.
So what is happening? Have the market forces finally started to shift back to US manufacturing? I surely hope so as I like your quality very much.
Disclaimer: I am not an American, nor a patriot. I like good quality manufacturing and materials (engineer...).
Cheers
