That's just it. It's a "catch 22." If people cannot buy what they are producing, capitalism will fail.

And to be fair, a "dictatorship of the proletariat" isn't pretty either.

If capital creates jobs, why not simply lower tax rate's across the board? People will have more of their own capital to spend, which will in turn create jobs, right?

Problem solved!

Of course demand is fundamental to industry. Humans are problem solvers. If there's a need, we'll find a way to meet it. No 'force of need' or 'want' ... no business. The ONLY thing that creates business is viable demand for goods and services.

That's why today's predicament is so monumental. The old-world societal ways have returned (i.e., massive consolidation of wealth), but this time w/o the teeth to brazenly enslave and rob the surfs. Wonder what's going to happen?

It's the age old dilemma. Wealth flow becomes increasingly more pointed (which squashes innovation btw). With no viable 'market', 'force' must be wielded in some form to continue to extract resources from the masses. In our current system they're using debt-force ... a soft-force. The same sly maneuver often associated with mafioso types, "It's ok baby, I'll take care of you ... but you owe me".

Still that fateful day always arrives when the suffering awakens us and it's time to storm the castle ... again.

Perhaps, this time we can preemptively call their bluff by using technology to choke off the beast. Anybody interested in a "Tax Payer Union"? Millions of people united in turning down or shutting off the governments oxygen (i.e, money) supply? That would turn some heads.

I believe our culture has evolved to a point, like with the British in India, where it won't stomach the use of 'overt-force' to align the underclass. Moreover, the underclass of today is pretty damn smart. We collectively hold and share more knowledge, by far, than at any other time in history.

Look ... a true capitalist WANTS wealth 'out there' in society. A true capitalist wants customers. Henry Ford paid his employees enough so that they could also be his customers. That's a capitalist.

Anyone not consciously oriented toward maintaining a balance in the distribution of wealth (i.e., a market) is NOT a capitalist. They're a closet elite from the old world with all the trappings and they have no place in our future! I really think that. I don't think technology is going to allow the tactic of human oppression to continue for too much longer. One can hope ...
