Didn't know. Usually anytime I'm out there recently I'm buying 1-2 items tops and tossing it in a hotel fridge. So I don't need a bag.

My wife saves all ours (and they're free). We have a stinky teenager so he bags his soccer cleats in his backpack so it doesn't transfer the awful smell to his jersey or locker and he gets known as the smelly kid. No joking, he's not allowed to keep his cleats in the house anymore. I'm fine as an adult, but it must be something genetic with stinky feet. Mine used to be bad and I still get sweaty working around the house.

I had it bad. There's a Zappa line in there, but I'm not looking up how to spell the word.

That's the problem with some of these governors. Mine in IL is a billionaire. There's not a chance he took care of his kids. Sure maybe he showed up to games and sat their eating a massive sub sandwich. They're completely disconnect with real life. Not paying for a nanny when my wife and I are completely capable. As a man my sons and nephew need to see me there. Especially the nephew with sperm donor in prison. Dangling off of hills and cliffs, on fault lines, by waterways, overlooking the manifestly erosive Pacific. It's a lite form of the ozone madness preceding hurricanes.

I wouldn't have one of those house danglies on the Cali cliffs by the ocean. In any five to ten year period, you're gonna get fucked and they age four times faster (wind and salt, everything that can rust will rust) than an ordinary inland house. The beach places are constantly being renovated for the rich to playground in. Nonetheless, the prices are outrageous for the exclusivity and show.

One guy on the cliff where I paddle board lost half his back yard to the ocean a couple of years ago. Shored things up but the for sale sign was up within a few months. Some ancient artifacts were found in the landslide. Kids in his yard used to yell at me when I got a wave around there.

All the rip rap and the expensive concrete walls trying to hold back the erosive Pacific are only supposed to last a mere fifteen years or so.

You have to drive the pilings/steel at least 20' and even that might not be enough if you do it right. Each one is an easy $50k. Probably need 15 on that house. Houses are too close so I'm not sure you can get a crane in there anyway.

I don't get what engineers were thinking. You don't even have to be that close to a cliff to understand what is going to happen, even if you're not an engineer. Problem is people that see this type of stuff will scream global warming.

You built a house or bought a house on a soil cliff. Just because it is temperate with little rain doesn't mean earth doesn't erode at some point. That pool is toast too. So there's another $150k and insurance likely won't cover it or they'll drop you. That's a $2M job all day.

Yes it was. Wasn't engineered properly. You can avoid erosion like that no problem. It's not complicated. But whatever? Look at the house to the North. It's fucked. They didn't do pilings correctly. This is engineering 101. Do it right once.

I have in many parts of the of the West coast from Seattle to San Diego many of times.

My folks owned a condo on a barrier island in Florida in the panhandle. All it is, is 12' of sand above sea level (if that) and gets hit by up to CAT 4 hurricanes. Still there's no erosion. 1/4 of a mile at widest. It's a sand bar basically.

Kind of weird a place that doesn't get hurricanes wasn't engineered as well as places in FL? If you want to live on water you need to engineer it correctly or plan better when building. Doesn't matter what body of water.

That slide could have been prevented. If you don't have the money to put in proper infrastructure to secure your property, don't live there? That place is uninsurable now without spending millions.

There are buildings in, say, Pacifica which are front row now but weren't less than 10 years ago. That coastline constantly moves inward.
