An anonymous individual or group is alleging that they have gained "all available 1040 tax forms" of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney by accessing computers in the Franklin office of the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. An anonymous posting on a file sharing website states that PwC has been hacked. This same website has been used by hackers who have claimed to have infiltrated computers from companies like Apple in the past. An excerpt from one message states: "Romney's 1040 tax returns were taken from the PWC office 8/25/2012 by gaining access to the third floor via a gentleman working on

Well good then the argument is over.

I think it is a hoax, but time will tell.

It certainly wont matter to his voter base.

Half are voting for him because he is a business man
a quarter are voting for him because they are republican, and Bachman/Santorum/Gingrich/Perry didn't get the nod.
And the other quarter are voting for him because they believe 4 years per lying scumbag.

The last quarter are already working on the anti Romney rhetoric for 2016.

I don't think anything is going to shake his voter base much. Hackers could uncover old videos of Bishop Romney taking liberties with pre-teens in his ward, and I don't think it would change the votes of his base.

Oh, yeah. If he does get elected, his most vocal and active supporters now are going to turn on him like a pack of wild dogs in 2016.

Yeah, I suspect hoax as well.

I doubt they would send copies to the local Democrat office, and then demand a ransom on threat of wide release.

You mean create fake and exaggerated "hacked" return
to force Romney to release his actual returns.

More plausible i think...

Maybe...

Romney's 2010 returns were 55 pages long, and very complicated. I think that it would be very difficult to convincingly create years of fake returns.

All his efforts would go to discounting the leaked fakes. I don't think there is any way they would pressure him into releasing his actual returns.

Romney would probably rather get on national television and admit that he whole heartily believes in Mormon scripture, and yes even the parts that call all non-Mormon religions corrupt abominations (yes, Romney chose a running mate who follows an abomination religion with corrupt leaders) than release any more tax returns.

The behind the scenes stuff going on right now is pretty interesting. Look at the person doing some pretty quick investigative work(top thread) on the ransom demands and counter demands.

I think this may explode into a huge hoax.

What if someone created a fake that made Romney look good, and then possibly the president and or others in the government can't say that they know they are fake (because they aren't supposed to use their power toward such ends as checking out individuals returns).

I guess someone with the IRS could come out with a statement "we can not tell you anything about Romneys confidential tax info, but we can tell you that those suppose returns are indeed fake."
