School lunch is like prison food, only worse.

Both offer a calorie count of around 1400, and both cost little more than $2.60 per person per day. The big difference, according to their research, sourced from national statistics, is that prisoners get a little more bang for the buck.

installing surveillance cameras to increase awareness about what students are eating every day---suuuure!

nothing like just looking at the menu the head 'chef' probably has tacked on their wall for that week.

what are the cameras really for, San Antonio?

Looks as trashy as American school meals. My MIL as a retirement "job" is a lunch lady to pass time and get out of the house. Maybe ghetto schools have shit lunches. But I know another lunch lady that we're friends with. It's not as bad as it's made out to be.

My thing is be a parent. I don't expect the school or lunch lady to nourish my child. That's on me and my wife. They'll occasionally get "hot" lunch at school but rarely.

Italians are cunts as well. Thought I'd toss that in there.

Very few American kids would even eat any of that. They wouldn't' even want the grapes because they were on the same plate.
They would have ate the pasta if not for the herbs, they don't want to see green leaves. No lettuce on the salad. They wouldn't even be fans of grilled Salmon like that. There's kids that will eat what ever an adult eats, but they are the minority. I have an 8 year old that will eat Sardines, smothered in yellow mustard, and topped with a drop of Tabasco, and a slice of sharp aged cheddar cheese served on a cracker. He'll eat the whole tine and ream of crackers with me, while the other kids look on in horror and disgust.
Both of my older daughters were very picky and finicky eaters when they were kids. They eat a lot of stuff now that they would have never touched in their all of their school years.

It's a taste bud/smell thing. Sensory overload for most kids I couldn't do anything even moderately spicy. I now eat foods that can make adults start sweating. All kids come around as they age.

Also, my dad didn't cook. My mom made her same meals weekly. No variety. Very 1950's how she was brought up. I make more food in 2 weeks than my dad did. And I bring a shit load of variety and try shit. Sometimes I fail, but usually I'm pretty good. I've made enough now were I can just wing it and make something amazing.... and forget to write it down.

It was a smoked meat thing, and I totally forgot how I made it, but it blew away my chef friend. My parents would have never made something like that.

Also, as a man, teach your son to cook. I've got 3 of them and they will learn to grill and cook. Women get wet watching men cook, especially grilling. Baking might even make them squirt their pants. Trust me. I don't think we have younger bachelors on this site, but take the advice. Learn to cook. Spend 30 minutes a day just watching videos. You'll have chicks crawling all over you if you're social. I do and I'm not all that attractive. Just tall and nerdy looking because I can't stand contacts and wear glasses. Women LOVE men that cook.
