It ain't poor, unemployed black men or illegal immigrants. It's welfare queen giants like Walmart, General Motors, General Electric, and big oil.

Let gas go up to Euro levels, have consumption taxes, curtain liberal arts studies, cut tuition for science degrees by 25%, cut subsidies of Gas and Oil by 50%, provide $3000/worker tax credit in US manufacturing, cap lawyers pay at $225/hour.

Gas should be expensive as we're running out of fossil fuels and rising prices as supply decrease is the free market's way of incentive's people to develop alternative energy sources and transportation mechanisms. But hey, if you don't believe in the free market...

There is no social justification for subsidizing big oil, one of the most profitable and destructive industries in history. They cost shift by polluting, which is simply a form of theft. They cause us to fight expensive wars. And they inhibit alternative transportation and energy source development. Big oil is bad for our economy, our environment, and our national security.

subsidies.. as in cash given to big oil... there is none! once again the lefties call depletion accounting as subsidies.. the same so called subsides (oil depletion in accounting) is similar to forest and wood industries accounting.

When the study adjusted for inflation to 2009 dollars, the oil and gas industry received subsidies amounting to $1.8 billion per year in the first 15 years of the fledgling industry. The American Coalition for Ethanol estimates that when combined with state and local government aid to large oil companies, subsidies amount to anywhere from $133.8 billion to $280.8 billion annually from all sources of taxpayer aid that goes to the oil and gas industry.

We won WWII almost 70 years ago. We won the cold war 20 years ago. The present wars have nothing to do with defending our land or our people. They are simply profit centers for various war profiteering corporations and oil companies.

Furthermore, isn't it you Republican nuts who always says that big government is bad, government can't do anything right, and starve the beast? What hypocrisy!

Finally, I have never smoked marijuana in my live. The fact that you concluded that I have shows how little basis your statements have in reality.

Oil & Gas Tax Provisions Are Not Subsidies For "Big Oil"
.
Unfortunately, most media outlets and reporters have chosen to basically repeat the Administration’s mantra that these tax treatments – several of which have been in the tax code for almost a century – are somehow unique, specific to the oil and gas industry, and are “subsidies” for “big oil”. A great example of just how inaccurate this depiction is applies to Percentage Depletion, which has been a feature of the tax code since 1913, meaning it will be a full century old this year.
.
.
.
Finally, let’s talk about Intangible Drilling Costs (IDCs), another feature of the federal tax code that will enjoy its’ 100th birthday in 2013. Basically, IDCs are the costs incurred by the oil and gas industry in the drilling of its wells. Since drilling wells is the only means of finding oil and natural gas, IDCs essentially amount to what any other industry would be able to deduct as a part of its cost of goods sold, a concept of accounting and tax law as old as the tax code itself.
