Do we really know that? I mean as far as I can tell, the stuff sent to the US hasn't been DNA tested. Or at least no article I have seen has mentioned it.

Yeah, exactly.

I would really not care if they marketed them as horse meat, meatballs--hell I would like to try them--but the horses used might not have been raised for human consumption and not be "safe."

I've handled a lot of balls in my time, and I can say there's no shortage of great balls out there.

The only thing in that bag we find at Ikea that was sent from outside the US is the bag itself, and perhaps some of the seasoning.

I don't think they air-freight something that is like $3/lb and needs refrigeration.

The US meat is from different suppliers than the meatballs sold in Europe.

Of course if you are skeptical you can always have it tested yourself.
