This really isn't an open house review, but more of a bookmark.
I was commenting the a month ago, how a home put out a "For Sale" sign on a Thursday, and had an open house on the following Sunday.
I mentioned that we were playing the "how fast will it go pending" game with it.
This home is in my neighborhood, which is fronted with a variety of low-income housing units off of the 880. Air traffic from Oakland International flies overhead most of the night, and it can be heard even in the most sound proof homes. Owners have to contend with 'fixer' or 'uncles' car parked for weeks at a time on their front curbs. I don't know what the school API's are, but I am sure they aren't too good.
Anyways. This home listed for $588k on Feb 14, somehow woke up realizing the bids, relisted on the 22nd for $688k and the sale finalized on March 23rd for $670.5k.
No matter how many 'bedrooms' you build onto the back of the house, 4 of them are still serviced by one bathroom. It's not realistic for the Master to be used for the other occupants. I live in this same model, and the master bath has a tiny tiny stand up shower, and a single sink.
When I moved into this neighborhood, one year ago, on Feb 15th 2012, houses were listed at $400k.
This is the state of the market.
Not to type-cast, but I drove by yesterday, and there was a moving truck there. The people were a Chinese family.
