according to the article, hospitals are concerned that their being penalized for patients being readmitted isn't fair.

Hospitals dump patients out at the very first opportunity, and even though they provide discharge planning they make shitloads providing the minimal amount of care possible.

The latest trick is for patients who were discharged too soon to be sent to Acute Rehab Facilities instead of the hospital (if the doc gets a say). That way, it doesn't count against the hospital and yet the rehabs make shitloads.

Of course, now that Obamacare has ended lifetime caps, the biggest money is in comas. Think Terri Schiavo. BTW, women who've been in comas for years have been known to get pregnant. Of course, when it happens in a Catholic hospital, it's immaculate conception. Other hospitals have to acknowledge the staff were too careless to wear condoms when raping the patients.
