In case you haven't heard, in one of the sickest crimes three high school football players gang rape a girl and then torment her by passing around pictures of the act over the high school and Internet. It took half a year to arrest these bastards -- assuming that they did it, which given the photographic and physical evidence is pretty certain. Before that, the girl had been driven to suicide by these slimeballs.

The three boys are facing two felony charges, but murder isn't one of them. The family of the victim is filing a wrongful death suit as they boys are not facing any murder charges.

It seems to me that these three individuals are responsible for the death of the girl as much as if they had shot her. They raped and then psychologically terrorized this girl until they drove her to suicide. In my opinion, that should constitute at least second degree murder. The mechanics of how they killed this girl are less important than the fact that they directly are responsible for her death. And they should be tried as adults given the heinousness of their crimes.

What is horrifying to me is that this one indecent where the girl committed suicide and there is picture evidence that was circulated are probably just the tip of the ice berg as far as these types of rapes go.

It is very difficult to have sympathy for people who commit crimes like these, and I am surprised that they don't give rise to more first degree murders.

The difficulty in proving this to be a second degree murder (or even a voluntary manslaughter) is the ability to prove that they intended for her to die. At best they could get a involuntary manslaughter charge against them. I agree though that intentionally or not they are responsible for her death, and it is unfortunate that a wrongful death suite is the only way they may be punished.

I'm curious, why do you give these guys the benefit of doubt?
Yet you'd have Zimmerman face the firing squad, and have Obama both judge, jury and executioner.
