Well I think it is stupidity of Americans or maybe the decades of affluence that lulled the population into a false sense of security.

India did not invade America and force Americans to give their jobs. What is happening in IT, backoffice etc is the same thing that happened in manufacturing. Greedy American corporations that were extremely profitable decided to increase their profits by firing workers and moving offshore. Corrupt or free trade loving republicans started this trend and Billy boy and Obozo have adopted this and made it their own. The vast majority of politicians do not care enough to do something joblessness and increasing folks on welfare rolls.

Articles like this seem to be the commentary on all sides. It is the same with say crime by blacks. Yes they have a much higher crime rate and welfare rates. trying to find out why and solving it is good-but then you have the brigade that compares them to sub humans and such and the argument devolves into racists vs whatever and the issue never gets dealt with.

The same here. Manufacturing, IT etc is facing the same issues, corporate executives looking to increase their bottom line-and bonus- by any means possible. A corrupt govt that allows it-despite tens of millions of Americans being severely affected. Ironically I find some of the strongest opposition to the increase in the H1B cap with the immigrant bill comes from indians on H1B. they know what will happen with a flood of new cheap labor-much lower wages and less jobs to go around.

That is what I find surprisingly lacking in many Americans. Instead of looking at self interest-economically and/or otherwise-many get carried away with stupid things -like Indians ruined IT or blacks or gays or abortion or Kardashians. Maybe it is easily available welfare or easily available whatever-but I find this lack of economic self-preservation surprising.

I have watched a general degradation of civic spirit in America in my lifetime.
Gangster America has made vice chic.
Whatever you can get away with is OK.
There was always an element of "lookiing out for number 1" but now that has pushed out all other values.

The importance of free trade is a basic consequence of supply-and-demand, comparative-advantage economics. Many people believe that economics should be respected above all else, and that any attempt to modify the workings of markets will create misery.

So why do so many of them loathe offshoring and H1B's? Isn't special government-sponsored wage protection for your profession just another form of - gasp! - socialistic unionism?

Those CEO's are acting in the best interests of themselves, which, by economics, is in the best interest of society. If you believe that you deserve more money than an Indian for the same work, you're a housing project welfare queen.

Exactly. It's not even a question of free trade or H1-Bs.
What American corporations want is commodity workers with commodity skills, that can be laid off fast rehired at will, and with wages that increase slower than inflation. They don't want to pay to train people more than absolutely required, and they don't want to be dependent on high skills employees.
That's true in every industry.

You approach engineering and innovation with this attitude... it sort of works in the short term as long as you can milk your market position, but this position erodes and you're in for some problems longer term.

It's not Indians who are to blame. It's American management.

If you look at Germany for example, the approach is totally different. They see people's skills as the center of their business and are reluctant to lay-off.

Indians are the niggers of Asia. you cannot have a skin that dark and be intelligent at the same time. it's just not possible.

look at the IQ map you will see Indians have the same IQ as Africans (69-82).

compared to the national average 97 - 108, the Indians are considered borderline retarded.

India is an incredibly corrupt country. When did the IT workplace become a huge cluster!@#$ of corruption and mind-numbing insanity? when Indians arrived.
