Backpay for furloughed federal employees = taxpayer funded vacations for them

Furlough means you don't work and you don't get paid, but you'll have the option of getting your job back after the furlough period, and you keep your health insurance and other benefits.

But Congress has several bills to give back pay to all federal employees for the furlough period, that's back pay for work not done.

So basically, the longer this shutdown goes on, the more paid vacation time the federal employees get at the expense of taxpayers. And they get to keep their normal paid time off as well.

Shouldn't this upset all those Republicans bitching and moaning about welfare queens?

I should have signed up for several thousand government jobs just before the government shutdown and then quit them when the government starts up again. That's the American way.
