Disapproval of the way congressional Republicans are "handling negotiations over the federal budget” has jumped to 70%, a Washington Post-ABC News poll shows. The poll, taken Wednesday through Sunday, found 24% approving of the congressional GOP.

That 24% shown below.

So let's game this out.

Say Boehner "stands his ground" and lets the government remain shutdown, AND refuses to even allow a vote to raise the debt ceiling.

Then Obama and the Treasury pull all the stops out, doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep essential lights on despite Congress.

How essential does Congress itself seem at that point?

This could backfire as badly as my 5 year old threatening to run away from home.
